New R1 Refresh spotted photos! [Updated w/ New Wheel Aero Covers pic]

How do we know this is a Rivian 'refresh'...Rivian, and not some dude with a dual motor (silver calipers) that did their own blackout work?

The blurry circle on the lightbar is pretty much the only indication this might be something different, as far as I can tell from the photos... But that could also be some type of sticker or <literally anything> ... so. Color me confused as to how we arrive with such certainty that this is a 'refresh' model?

And even if it IS a refresh model, why is Rivian filming it in Seattle?

Well number one is the manufacturer plate, so this is owned by Rivian 100%. It's either the refresh or they are coming out with an official blackout package.

Also, I compared them, the mirror is clearly different, the taillights look different from this too, not sure if that's just lighting though

Nice one my sources say it sits lower than old R1

If tri-enduro total 1,000hp (665hp for dual…) why should they care for quad anymore ? And I guess they will save a lot by not having to buy Bosch motors anymore…

Because the a new in-house quad will be the big hp R1. Tri-motor is still coming... but the new quad will also live on.. not sure when... totally a rumor, but one based on people in the know.

Quad allows torque vectoring without needing brakes.

I believe the Ascent motors are slightly smaller than the Enduro ones, but still bigger than Bosch. Tri-motor is likely positioned where the current quad is.

I know you're joking... But, with permit to film, and police escort, you can do just about anything. Heck, I was in a shoot last spring for another manufacturer (in downtown LA) where a woman in a G-wagon blew right past the police officer, whom we had posted on a side street, and nearly T-boned the one and only pre-production prototype we were filming. And, none of the 6 officers we had did anything. Turns out, none of them were active-duty. All on semi-retirement.

I think he meant halo. As in halo car. Not really a video game reference, just happen to have same name/word. It's also not a code name, but a generic industry name for high-spec.
