Any tips to get the lock to slide in easier? I finally got it to lock after several attempts, but there is no way that my wife could do this. I had her tried a few times and she gave up.

Probably not advised, and you have to be careful not to damage anything, but for stubborn ones… I attach the Tesla handle to the adapter then press it into the curb like I’m plugging it into the ground. A little extra pressure helps seat the plug in the adapter fully, allowing me to easily slide the lock over.

I haven’t had this issue at all, so I’m not sure why people are finding it hard to lock. Yesterday I used it for maybe my 5th or 6th time and it was like butter.

I used it 3x this past trip and it was difficult each time. I tested it out last week too and it took some force to lock it.

Maybe with continued use it will ease up a bit.

I’ve learned to push the adapter into the Tesla handle really quickly, and the momentum of pushing the adapter so quickly allows the adapter to properly seat into/align with the handle.

I applied a drop of '3 in 1' light machine oil to each side of the the slider, worked it in and wiped off the excess.. works perfectly. btw, I also did the same to the barrel so it slides onto the connector easier.

I found mine to be pretty stiff when I first got it. I used my J1772 to NACS adapter to slide in and out a bunch of times to loosen it up. That seems to have done the trick as it works well now.

Do not attempt to make modifications or alterations. Use it and it will loosen up. Took only a few times for me. If it doesn’t, contact A2Z for guidance. Slider resists when the plug is not fully seated in the adapter. As mentioned, momentum helps. To ensure it is fully seated, you have to “pop” the adapter on with some force. S00nish’s 3D printed cap helps to provide a larger flat surface to slap or hit against, less painful than edges of the CCS1 end. Observe NACS plug at the Supercharger, you should see a wear line. This is how far the plug needs to be seated in the adapter. Put NACS plug in capped adapter, give adapter a good slap/pounding on the cap to seat rest of the way. Once seated it’s easy to slide the lock. If you hit it hard enough, it might even lock with momentum.

Here’s what I did to make the adaptor slide on a little easier. I sprayed some silicon spray (a must have for around the house) on a Q-tip, then rubbed it around the interior walls of the adaptor. I didn’t want to just spray it all over the electrodes. Today, I stopped by a Super Charger to give it a whirl. This was only my second time using A2Z. The first time it was pretty sticky and took some persuasion to get on. This time, it seemed to slide on much easier. I tried several times and by the third time, it was pretty much going right on - easy, peasy.

I also had trouble at one SC, banging it on a surface was the only workaround I found...may need to try a lubricant as some others have mentioned...was first time showing my wife which inspired zero confidence...first time it worked fine...go figure...

Maybe take a rubber mallet along too. Better than banging on the adapter with your bare flesh or pushing against hard surface (and mar the adapter). Once the NACS end is worn/formed to the plug, after a few uses, it will be easier.

The first time I charged it, it was tough. I had to tap it against my tire to get it to lock in place. But after that first time, it was easy to lock it.

After hearing so much about these difficulties I made a point last weekend when testing out mine for the first time to exercise the adapter by seating it/locking it, and reseating it/locking it about 30 times on the Tesla charger.

I'm not sure if it made a difference because I was so intent on seating it fully the first time that I push it on with force and then braced it on the charger and pushed even more haha

First run with A2Z from Houston to Dallas. Stopped at the Bus-ees in Madisonville. All worked fine. Gave the adapter a little smack with the heel of my hand and worked well.

I absolutely love being able to ignore EVGO and ChargePoint and EA etc. and just rely on the lower-cost RAN plus Tesla. In vehicle integration is almost perfect with real-time availability etc. (just missing the ability to get plug-and-play membership pricing). Absolutely loving this.
