My daughter and I were at the mall this weekend and saw a Cybertruck in the Tesla store so she wanted to pop in and check it out. Both she and my son think it's awesome and cooler than our R1T. I think it's ridiculous. But I was more impressed with it up close than I am when I see it in pictures or on the road. The interior is big and comfortable, if a bit spartan. Anyway, I'm tired of car companies all putting out boring egg-shaped crossovers in various shades of gray with black interiors. I love when funky cars or funky colors exist! Compass yellow is (was) great! My forest edge interior is great! Rivian's new plaid interior is very fun! I loved when cars came with maroon or navy interiors. I love that cars like the original Kia Soul and Nissan Cube and Juke existed. I just like to see car companies put out something with a specific design that may not be everyone's cup of tea, but is not watered down for mass market consumption. If you hate the Cybertruck, don't buy one. But it's great that it exists for people who are into it and so that the rest of us get to see more variety on the road.

I agree, everyone needs a little humour in their lives.

Boring, like the interior design that's almost a Decade Old.

I agree, the front and sides are not bad. The rear however is a mess, and when you get to the specs and what it offers over rival EV's, it's overpriced. Rivians upcoming offerings are more interesting IMO.

In context of your post, agree ?. You've probably seen this infographic:

I sure wish manufacturers would bring back 'fun' colors, like 1970 Chrysler Plum Crazy Purple, instead of more boring shades of gray.

And I love my Forest Green + Forest Edge interior, also! ?

I’m glad it exists too. Healthy competition and creativity should be celebrated. I still remember playing in a non functioning Delorean at my best friends house. Sparked wonderful imaginative thoughts. I smile at the creative ramifications the CT will have decades from now.

But, I still think it looks like a Delorean got drunk with a dumpster in the alley and out popped the CT nine months later. Not all babies are cute, they say, but some people love this one. ? ??

I applaud Tesla for making the CT. The world needs to get past the ubiquitous box-on-box style of vehicle designs. More car designs like the Aptera (form follows function) are needed.

I question why people are so reluctant to look up how to take care of the CT’s steel body panels. A CT at a Maserati dealership next to me used something that tinted the steel to something purple. Sure , people use acetone-based products on normal paint and ruin them too but you would think someone would at least check how to clean stainless steel.

Tesla sure nailed the box; you can't argue with that.

People let Tesla, Elon and cybertruck live rent free in their heads too much. Who cares what anyone thinks. We spoke with our wallets and bought an R1T/R1S, focus on the cool thing we have, like i tell my kids, "Don't yuck someone else's yum"

Tesla has made some absolutely terrible design moves in removing physical interfaces within their vehicles. Some of these aren't so bad, like HVAC controls you might rarely interact with, or even mirror/steering wheel adjustments. But I wrote Tesla off after they removed stalks from the console, and the instrument cluster from anything other than the S and X. Turn signals are slightly better in the CT since they are not capacitive buttons like the other vehicles, and the steer by wire means you almost never need to shuffle your hands.

I like the stainless steel body, suspension, power, and charging speed/reliability of the CT though. I was shocked to see its efficiency wasn't much different from the other EV pickups though. I figured that sloped body would have done a better job at cutting through the air. I do wonder what kind of range penalty the truck has by currently only being offered with AT tires, however.

I'd agree with you except for the obvious danger it presents to everyone around it.
I'm just really glad they didn't all come polished from the factory.

As I was driving home yesterday I saw a CT that was wrapped white. It reminded me of a Chinese takeout carton.

I do commend Tesla at breaking the mould of car design, but truly think that when Elon proposed it, it started as a joke that he thought would never get built....then his engineers said "Sure Elon, we got this!".

I will stick with my traditional-looking R1T for now and the future. I do wish they wouldn't have made the body a uni-body because just the cost to repair is outrageous. You can't just unbolt underneath and replace the bed (like all other trucks except the Honda Ridgeline....and even the new ones have the spilt body. I know the gear tunnel would be an issue, but that can be redisigned.
