It’s pretty good.
I like the new fonts and the driving/suspension seems improved.
The driving mode screen changes are nice but I’m indifferent as to whether it’s an “improvement”.
I’m indifferent on the blind spot display (and may just turn it off).
I don’t like the changes to the HVAC controls. It’s harder to see which vents are active and the button for front/rear moved to a less easy place to press.
With all the focus on graphics, they couldn’t move the clock to the middle so the driver can actually see it? Or add a clock/temp widget to the driver screen?

Got my notification an hour ago. I wasn’t expecting to see it til next week. Usually mine come about a week after the initial and every time it’s been on a Thursday, so I was surprise to see it today.

Does it notify on the phone app or do you have to check on the vehicle?

I spent 30 miles driving my 2024 R1S with the updates applied last night. Here are my observations:

1. I like how the suspension is a bit more refined over bumps, ruts, and uneven roads. The R1S doesn't pongo as it did on one section, it absorbs the bumps with more compliance in moderate all purpose mode, and its flatter/more composed overall.
2. The blind spot cameras are awesome. Have to get used to looking down to the screen though
3. HVAC controls are nicely laid out and I like the new quicks select on the home screen to heated seats, heated steering wheel and cooling seats.
4. New fonts and turn signal graphics were needed.
5. Low regen mode in All purpose mode is perfect. The car coasts a bit more and its less jerky

Need to do these:
1. Allow the R1S/R1T to open community/private gates
2. Allow text messages to come on the screen with fast prompts or voice responses

Blind spot cameras are nice, but it will be an adjustment for me. After decades of looking at my mirrors or over my shoulder I’m not used to looking forward and down when I hit the turn signal :CWL:

Also, the steering wheel kinda blocks the left turn display where I have it set. Still thankful to have it as an option!
Looking down right in front of you is better than Tesla where you need to look at the center screen. I got use to the Tesla blind spot cameras and I’m sure I‘ll adjust to the Rivian. I thought the steering wheel might block the camera view. I guess I will see soon as the update is installing now. It would be great if Rivian gave a choice to display the blind spot cameras on the center or middle screen.

It notifies you both on phone and in vehicle

Phone app or vehicle. I happen to have the app open but if you don’t you should receive a push notification on your phone.

Yeah, I’m sure I will get used to it. Not sure I would jump through a bunch of hoops to use these camera views though - the quality is not great. Tomorrow I will try cleaning them and see if it helps. It was a bright day here and the picture was pretty dim. ??‍♂

For some reason I thought we couldn't adjust steering effort/sensitivity the way you can in a Tesla? Can we do this with the current software or is this a change in the new software?
I am sure we cannot adjust that ourselves but I can sure tell the differences between settings.

I just posted in the R1S specific sub group, but sharing here as well
I'm happy to report that this update has brought VERY noticeable improvements to the ride quality on Gen 1 Quad R1S. The R1S no longer pogo's and porpoises (front and rear) like it used to. The rear end squat on acceleration and front end nose dive on deceleration are much improved.
Moderate setting seems perfect. Soft setting is good too, not as floaty as it was before. did not try Firm yet, but I rarely used it before anyways.
Awesome, can't wait to try!

Yes!

Rivian R1T R1S 2024.19.04 software update now installing! Share your impressions & reviews 1000017650

Pro tip: If your router is set up for 5G and 2.4 GHz your vehicle Will pick up the first bandit sees when you enter your driveway. This may not be the best band when you are in the garage because of walls etc. toggle the Wi-Fi on and off on the Rivian once you are parked in the garage and it will pick up the best signal from there which may be much faster or stable..

I did this tonight and I feel like it made a difference on downloading the update. It could just be coincidence but I always seem to get the update on the second day ever since the failed update last winter (I used to get the update right away before that)
