"Shift to Park to formate drive"

I just updated my R1S 2024, not the SSD I was using with no issues is showing "Shift to park to formate drive" as message, I attempted to formate the drive but failed multiple times. Anyone experiences this issue? if so, what's another SSD I can get that will be compatible? thanks

It would be helpful if you mentioned what one you had. I think a lot of us have the Samsung T7's.

Most of us run some variation of the Samsung T7 as that drive seems to be the least "fussy" of the readily available options out there. It's pretty much plug & play.

I have one posted on the marketplace from a long while back if you end up deciding to go that route (thread here).

I have a Samsung T7 shield. The sandisk I have in my Tesla is awful and fails when it gets hot.

I have a WesternDigital and never had problems. After the recent update though, I had to restart the screens since it showed some error that DriveCam was not abailable.
Worth a shot doing hard reset as well

If it did indeed say “formate” I wonder if you got a bootlegged version or something

Sorry misspelled title. “Format”. I’m using SanDisk Portable 500GB model SDSSDE61-500G. It’s a pretty a new SSD. Thanks!

Yeah, lots of folks reporting issues with SanDisk drives. If you bought it new, return it and get a Samsung T7 Shield. It's got better heat tolerance too which is important for in-vehicle storage.

It's very picky.

SanDisk 1 TB SSD ($79.99 from Costco) installed very smoothly on both our R1's.

Format it on your PC/laptop first to make sure it's not a legit media issue, then try it in the Rivian again.
