The s00nish ones can accommodate either MagSafe or Anker's MagGo Qi2 chargers, but you buy them separately. The Anker ones support Android, but you'll probably want to look up specifics for your phone's compatibility with Qi2. I went with the Ankers based on @Sojhinn 's suggestion that they have a slightly stronger magnetic hold vs. Apple's MagSafe. Plus you have more compatibility if there are passengers with either Apple or Android. And they're cheaper - Anker currently has a deal for 20% off 2 on their website, which is where I ended up ordering from.
Thank you so much for your response, I am an android user, and the question is more of the dimensions to accomodate the android chargers

Also: Once I confirm fitment. We will have a Gen2 compatible charger that doesn't require removal of the NFC key reader.

Keep a look out on the s00nish subforum here at rivian forums for when it's available. I expect a few weeks and I should have it ready to go.

I have several users who use Android devices with our charger.

There are Android cases and stick-on rings that are magsafe compatible. Google and you'll find enough options to make your head spin. Magsafe is just a ring of magnets built into the charging pucks.

I highly doubt the OEM solution will be anywhere close to the awesome s00nish solution.

Easy install with the latest version and it looks so good.
If what's delivered in gen2 is any indication, it's just a longitudinal divider. The phone will still slide—fore and aft, and less side-to-side—out of position and have charging interrupted. Many bloggers/influencers who attended Rivian's refresh launch event have already made such observations.

I understand what a magsafe is but the chargers recommended by soonish wont work for Android as per the questions posted in amazon, so trying to find the right recommendation than buying something bigger or to smaller to fit into this product

I'm sorry this is incorrect. Apple Magsafe or the Anker Qi2 charger will charge an android phone. The difference will be the magnet locking ability. Charging Speeds will vary depending on alignment and distance from the wireless charger. As stated elsewhere, several Android users use our wireless chargers.

The recommended charging pucks work. You just need to make your phone compatible, either with a case or a stick-on metal ring like these: https://www.amazon.com/s?k=magsafe+sticker. What's the difference? A Magsafe-compatible case would take out all the guess work (of where to place the sticker).

Again, Magsafe chargers are just wireless chargers with a ring of magnets to ensure proper alignment of sending and receiving coils. "Magsafe" is a trademarked name Apple created. The basic technology behind it is not proprietary to Apple. The phones don't care what brand charger the juice is coming from. Electrons are electrons.

That's a big miss if Rivian didn't just integrate Qi2 into the OEM pad.

Easy & cheap retrofit, wouldn't even need the divider up top so it would look sleeker too.

Important to remember, desktop accessories don't have to contend with motions of a 7k+ lb high-riding vehicle. As if the infinite combinations of phones and phone cases (their choice of materials and coefficient of friction) don't complicate things enough. Rivian might have been more successful if it used a grippier silicone mat. But, such mats don't look or feel premium. If they'd done that, I'm 100% sure we would see posts stating how a car this expensive shouldn't have a grippy/sticky silicone mat where hands/fingers might rest. Apple created Magsafe for a reason. Don't-need-to-think-about-it level of easy. And not reliant on surface materials.

Yes, some OEM wireless chargers are more successful. They tend to be ones that are tilted with the center console designed around that. Rivian likely didn't do this because they prioritized other features of the center console (and interior design) over the charging pad. IMO, it's a minor miss by Rivian. One that is easily overcome with the various aftermarket and DIY solutions available.

Isn't that kind of the point @jdubea is making? If there already exists a super easy solution (i.e. MagSafe or more recently Qi2) that is non-reliant on the surface material of the pad, Rivian should have incorporated it into the updated version, and by not doing so it's a missed opportunity?

Do not know for a fact... But I speculate it's a combination of timing, cost and wanting to be neutral. Production of the part is likely external and had a lead time. Design/engineering and negotiations might have been done long before Qi2 standard emerged (with integration of magnets)? And then there's neutrality. Even though Apple has slight majority in marketshare, I wouldn't put it past them to make a conscious decision to not appear to favor Apple.

Yup agree, Qi2 might have come out a bit too late to be worked in to production. Understandable but still a missed opportunity. Fingers crossed for Gen 3 :D

Wow! I'm so glad to see this. As an Android user, I've never had a problem with Qi wireless chargers. But I've never been able to get any of my phones to detect a MagSafe charger. Even my Pixel 8 Pro does nothing when I tried sitting it on a MagSafe puck someone has on their desk at the office. Of course, it does charge fine on the current Rivian pad, with the exception of sliding around. Also want one with a little bigger "granola bowl", for lack of a better word. ? Ty for posting the link to the Anker product.
