I just did 1000 mile trip and found the field of view very adequate to see lanes next to me....enough to see if something else was in those lanes. But then I live in a part of country with 3 lanes at most typically....maybe if you need to sweep across 6 lanes in LA it would be too narrow?
I guess I am just spoiled by the fender cams in the Model Y. They offer an excellent field of view.

Makes sense. I would like them to be better on G1 R1 also. They had a different purpose I assume and this was best they could do as an afterthought. But I find them to be better than nothing.

I have had the update installed for 24 hours. I definitely think my Gen 1 R1T quad rides better, not sure if it's as good as when I bought it (before the R1S suspension changes messed up my R1T handling). The new font seems more readable, but the chunky speedometer looks silly to me. I was initially very concerned that I lost my trip meter calculated efficiency numbers (I left the A meter un-reset since purchase), but this morning they were back! There is a bug, IMHO, in that if you are on a phone call and have your left turn signal on, the little blind spot camera view blocks the view of the phone controls popup. I had to remember which button was for hanging up. I had thought we Gen 1 drivers were getting Launch mode, but if it's there I haven't found it. I think the folks who have been waiting for mirror tilt-down in Reverse might find turning on the turn signal on that side to get the blind spot view useful. I still miss very much the ability to play music files from a USB stick or drive and any support for text messages. But, I still LOVE this truck and always look forward to driving it. The software has gotten consistently better. Great job Rivian.

I think launch mode is coming to G1 in a later build.

Will be curious if they boost top speed in launch mode for G1. We know the Bosch motors were capable of it unless they changed the gearing after they had that early adopter event in Normal. People who attended that event were reporting hitting in excess of 130 on the test track during that event.

I've now put 5 miles on the new software in my R1S, at night. So I speak with great authority.

Like many others, I find the suspension tuning noticeably improved.

I don't mind the new font, but don't love it either.

I find I dislike the rounded box on the left of the driver's screen and much preferred the prior version where the map widget blends into the rest of the screen.

But I really love the fact of the blindspot cameras, and if that happens to be connected to why they built this new boxy frame to house the other widgets, I'll take that trade--although the two could be entirely unrelated of course.

And the Bosch motors are actually 870hp according to the materials Rivian provided the DMV for registration!

This newer version is a hotfix to add the correct regen for dual/standard models and few early quads. All other models with large/max regardless of motor stays with 2024.19.04
I have a 26xxx vin quad r1t and got .06 this morning. It says "some early vin" but I don't think I'm that early!

I agree to all except the ride quality. I can't tell the difference.

This is new for this update. Before it didn't matter but now they prioritize WiFi-connected vehicles.
I had called rivian to see why I hadn't received my update yet and that's exactly what they told me. I went out into my garage and reconnected my rivian to our wifi just to be sure and within 30 min or so I got the update.
I'm thinking I wasn't connected before.

So great to have the blind spot cameras back. This was the number one thing I missed from my Genesis GV70. Camera quality is more than adequate. I think I'm indifferent to the UI changes, I liked the previous iteration and I like this one too. I do agree with what someone else said in that I don't think yellow is the appropriate color to show motor acceleration. I'm sure I'll get used to it, but it catches your eye and I agree that yellow on the gauge cluster should be reserved for conditions that require caution. I wouldn't be surprised if that changes eventually - kind of like the motor temps turning red when operating as designed.

The AC vibration in 110+ heat is a little improved. I think they decreased the RPM on the compressor. The thing was running way too fast and felt like it was going to explode.

Got the update last night. My two cents after driving 100 miles today:

1. The suspension in soft is substantially improved. I have to drive through the infamous Portuguese Bend in SoCal every day and the compression rebounding and the ability of the car to soak up bumps is vastly improved. Less clunking from the front suspension after the update. Rides better than the G wagon through the route now (not that the g wagon is infamous for ride quality haha). Very impressed nonetheless. This is a 7000lb vehicle after all.
2. The changes to the UI are fine. My only hope is that Rivian does not become like Tesla and sometimes makes changes to the UI for the sake of making changes.
3. The side view cameras - they are more than adequate and for me personally, it is far better than having to look at the console screen to view side view cameras. I found the left side view camera in the console screen to be especially unnatural and not helpful at all while driving in my wife’s Model Y. The side view screen in front of the driver like my Model S and the Rivian is absolutely better, regardless of the resolution. The lack of a screen in front of the driver for the Model 3 and Y was not some incredible invention by Tesla - just a way for them to save costs, hence the inclusion of the screens in the Model S and X.

Very happy with the update overall. I hope that they can do an update for the battery management because it still falls behind Tesla when it comes to my Rivian’s ability to maintain the battery at ideal temps, especially before DC fast charging. 50% of the time when I fast charge the car will ramp up to over 210kw very quickly, maintain that speed for 10 minutes then throttle down to 40kw and claim that the charging speed is limited by the charging station (my Model S does not have this problem at the same charging station). I’ll keep my fingers crossed.

That happened to us at the Electrify America in Billings MT. Apparently this is a known issue with 350-kW EA chargers, but not with 150-kW EA chargers.

This is the first I've heard that this is specific to Rivians, though. Was this an EA 350-kW charger?

Thanks and best wishes!
