I’ve had good luck charging at Francis energy the last couple weeks.

I made sure to order the RFID card which makes it much easier to initiate a charge.

I did run into one charger that kept ending the session right away and I had to move. The same location had one charger down. 2/6 down.

another location had one charger down as well. 1/3 down.

I have also successfully initiated a charge using the app.

Those blue machines are the devil. They are the ones that would start for 2 minutes than all end. Finally after the 2nd stop and on last 50kwh machine it took. A little stressful to say the least.

All other mfg vehicles were charging fine on them. Reported to Rivian and Francis at the time.

Have only used Francis energy once at the Guin, AL Holiday Inn a couple of weeks ago. Plug and charge didn’t work but worked fine through the app. Was noticeably the most robustly built charging station I’ve ever used, really heavy duty, couldn’t believe how heavy the cord was.

Those are the good hardware machines I've never had a problem with.

Are you getting the maximimum charge rates out of the units? Are they charging by the kwh or by the minute?

Francis Energy was like 52 cents per kWh, I did my best to hit Tesla chargers and pull down as much as I could and only used Francis if I was planning on making a rest stop or needed a charge to make it to the next station.

Honestly I don't remember exactly but I do know I was hitting like 150 kW - 170 kW speed easily.

Once It started to slow down around 80%, I moved over to a slower 50 kW charger at the Steak House down the street since I was planning on eating there and took my car to 100% charge for my road trip.

Thank you for the insights. These chargers in Muskogee are the ones I need to work to get the charge for my final leg of my trip to Springdale, AR. I am really looking forward to having my NACS adapter and the next 18 months of reliable/maintained CCS charger buildout so this discussion becomes unnecessary.

Most of Francis Energy is very expensive and they want way to much information to sign up. It should no matter what sex someone is or what the license plate # is.

Ironic that this thread appeared right now: my wife took the truck up to Iowa this week. The first charge stop (as suggested by ABRP) was a Francis location in Hannibal, MO. Prior to that, I had never even heard of this network. She called me while charging to report how annoying and inconsistent it was being. She mentioned there was a tech at the charger next to hers struggling to get it to work and cussing under his breath (or maybe a bit louder). Seems like this experience is consistent with the ones being reported here!

Alright, good to know! Will definitely keep all this in mind when plotting future trips.

I am going to risk it next week and go for the ones in Muskogee knowing I can always "trickle" charge at 50 kw if needed. I will report back on how the experience is.

Yes, it’s horrible experience for me, the first time user of Francis. It looked working fine at first 5 min but it stopped in minutes by minutes for many many times until refuses any more.

Maybe I won't risk it. The app wants way more personal information than is necessary. Why do they need a mailing address? I am never going to receive any mail. I am not ordering an RFID card because those are a waste of plastic.

We stopped doing road trips that go through Oklahoma because of Francis energy. We have had issues at every station except the random one at a bank in Miami, OK. Cannot wait for the Tesla adapter so we can feel confident about road tripping through that state again.
