The Rivian UI look seems to be heavily inspired by the game Firewatch IMO.

It's cool... I'm indifferent thus far.

UI nav hard screen I don't like, vs the faded nav into guage cluster. That looked more aesthetically pleasant to me.

I’ll add my thoughts, why not.
1.- I don’t think it’s childish. And for what it’s worth, Unreal Engine is not just use for games and not geared towards gamers. It’s used in broadcasting, architecture, films, design. It’s a 3D tool that offers freedom and ease of use. So no it’s not geared towards gamers. Get over it.

2.- Yes I liked the faded map on the driver’s screen better

3.- I feel the side cameras could be brighter. I’m sure that can be adjusted with software but they are way too dark especially if you’re wearing sunglasses. I do appreciate the implementation though.

4.- HVAC controls redesign is nicely done.

5.- I do wish there were more features with this “big” update. But hopefully soon.

6.- Stop arguing over grammar and fox ?

The new Rivian look sucks, but my 4yr old loves it.

LOL, I posted something similar in my "Does anyone else hate Gary" thread. The whole cartoonish thing Rivian has going on is a bit disappointing for a tech company, but I guess a lot of people prefer it, so to each their own, I suppose.

My only two cents about what might not be great about the new UI is how my truck is depicted in the driver's display. It's not great because from that rear angle, you can't really see the hood or any of the defining shapes of the truck. The black roof blends into the black spoiler blends into the black tonneau...

Some of us are still waiting for the update.... talk about a slow rollout.

I don't like the new look and yet, it doesn't bother me at all.
What does bother me is spending time and effort (money) on redesign interface elements that works well (some great and some les) instead of creating NEW features like the turn video.
For example, I would like to see the drive screen identify vehicles that are slightly behind and in the next lane.

….
Unfortunately, this is likely not possible with the Gen 1 vehicles. Apparently the truck is only using the single windshield camera for driver assistance, which is why vehicles disappear as soon as they are out of the view of that camera. It’s also why the Gen 1 vehicles will never get lane change assist.

Since the Gen 1 system is unlikely to get any further substantive development/feature additions, I wouldn’t expect to see any big improvements going forward.

I don't have an opinion on the cell animation good/bad. I do have the shared sentiment that there are way more important UI issues to address. Below are a few:
A clock that I can read while driving at freeway speeds (new font helps, but it's still difficult)
Text messaging system to read and respond
Get me direct access to my phone UI (remove Alexa from the equation)
and a nit-pick
The filter system for finding charging stations (selected boxes are yes for the first two categories and then for the third category they are no). The UI needs to be dead to rights intuitive when driving. Otherwise it leads to distracted driving which is simply dangerous.

Idk man, you should be focusing on the road lol
To me, I rarely look at the car on that screen to be that nit picky about seeing the hood or not.

Yes! Weather and time please ??
Yes to odo, trip, clock, weather, also “now playing”, small “constant” display of efficiency on driver display. Also don’t need to keep tire pressure on full time so that tile can be better used, for maybe off road stuff. Also current elevation on the actually map in the large screen would be nice.

The new improvements to the software were superficial. There is a huge list of desired software improvements on RivianTrackr that Rivian should focus resources on. These would make the user experience much better.

You should just get rid of your driver's screen then.
