Haven’t heard about this particular issue after the update. I assume you checked to make sure there isn’t anything actually preventing it from closing all the way?

If you’ve tried the hard reset and that didn’t change anything I would call into service and see if they can suggest any other troubleshooting steps.

Yeah, that is a weird one. Maybe someone else who has experienced that error message can add some advice, but if there are no obstructions and the reset didn’t help I’m not sure what else you could try. Sorry I wasn’t more help??‍♂

Make sure your plastic trim is all snapped in.

I don’t know how this would be related
To the update other than the timing of the issue arising. Sharing my experience just in case it is helpful. I had the same issue with mine from the factory. I could see the obstruction in my case - the hood was hitting the plastic trim fender liner near the windshield. I could get it to close by manipulating that trim each time. It took two service visits to fix. The first one they realigned the hood. That worked for just a short time. The ultimate fix was the tech pulling the fender out. There is some adjustability in the fender mounting hardware. Never occurred again after that.

I had this problem when I replaced the plastic clips at the bottom of the A-pillars. The OEM clips were not holding well. I put in heavy duty clips. BUT...they were too thick-headed, apparently like me.

This part here...

I have the same issue but have NOT completed the most recent update. Returned from a 450 mi trip and hood would not close “due to obstacle”. Walked through every option with support but now using manual closure. Note- the hood operated normally during my trip.

This is what they told me at the service center. The guy actually went around and “massaged” all the plastic and rubber that could come in contact with the hood- haven’t had the problem since. ( this was a couple of months ago)

I have the same issue. I can easily close mine manually, but it WON’T work to use the button or the app and then “help” the hood. Gotta just manually shut it. I’ll examine the trim.

For those with the trim issue, was the hood starting to close then reverse? Or did it not want to start closing ?

It would close down to a small gap and then reverse. You could hand-push it down to lock.

It could be something with the clips.

I added dynamat under the rivian logo thing in the front hood and the hood closes fine after that as well. Daying this because I did break 1 clip in the process but seems to have no impact with the hood operation.

Just use your fingers to sort of pry the hook under the hood and see if anything is jammed etc and if it helps.

I also had an unusual front hood issue right after the 2024.19 update. Not sure if there may be any relation.

About an hour after the update completed I drove about half a mile to the local grocery store. Shortly after entering the parking lot, I receive a “Hood latch not working. Pull over immediately and get vehicle serviced” pop-up, and the vehicle entered turtle mode at 13mph max. Luckily it was mostly downhill on the way home.

There was no response to any method of control (outside button, phone, key fob, or main screen). The graphics seemed to show the vehicle didn’t know if the hood was opened or closed.

Infotainment and hard resets did not have any impact. I removed the T20/T25 screws, pulled the release cord and looked inside the frunk, and no items were near the latch or impeding the hood operation. I could manually close it and it did latch.

The mobile service visit was today and the technician did some testing/troubleshooting which indicated the control unit wasn’t able to talk to the hood latch. We also noticed the front foot well lights were not on, as well as the center console light (right above the camp speaker) was also not working.

His laptop trouble shooting resource showed a control unit connector inside the center console, also a tech tip a mentioned the possibility of moisture or foreign debris that can cause problems with the connectors in that area.

As he was removing some trim pieces to access the connectors, he unplugged the center console light and the trouble indicator on the dash disappeared. He plugged it back in, and the pop-up warning and indicators came back on. He even went as far as removing the one from his R1T service vehicle and plugged it in ours, and it worked fine.

There appears to be some anomalies with the our bad light module. The PCB looks slightly bent, and there also appears to be some residue/corrosion. The current theories are: moisture somehow got into the light module, or some “magic smoke” leaked out of one of the components. We aren't sure if the update had any relation to the light failing. The “short” of it is the light was shorting the bus which prevented anything on that buss from talking to the control module.

In the meantime we left the light disconnected, and I drove it a few times with no issues. A replacement should arrive in a week or less.
