I think the new storm blue and slate interior options are terrific. What's making my head spin a bit is that Rivian is going make a $110K pickup truck. The intended use of the vehicle isn't compatible with the price tag. But the R1S in that Ascend config is going to be wildly popular. It's gorgeous.

Agreed. Not to mention no massaging seats or soft closing doors. Can you image the quad! Probably 125k luxury SUV with no massaging seats or soft close doors.

Or auto up and down folding rear and third row seats

Has anyone seen the slate sky interior in person? I really like it. Just can’t tell how blue it is. I’d really like a dark grey interior, not sure I’d like dark blue as much. And definitely wouldn’t want a light blue interior.

At $110,000 for the Rivian, the Chevrolet Silverado EV RST is very attractive at $96,000.

But the work truck is not as attractive as a high performance adventure one ? .

Does the Quad have an option to configure a staggered wheel setup? I thought I saw this mentioned somewhere. What’s everyone’s thoughts on this? I think the rear would look much more aggressive with a wider wheel.

I agree, timing with the option is quite ODD!

Nonetheless, I did reach out to my Rivian Guide earlier for a separate question, and she said, "Not to worry, as we get closer to delivery, you will receive an email to confirm your configuration. At that time, you can edit your vehicle." ?
My Rivian guide says my order config (tri-max) is locked. I guess we’ll find out, but it seems like the sales staff isn’t getting a clear message on this Issue.

A few folks mentioned seeing videos of Slate Sky + Walnut Wood interior -- could one of you share a link? I've ordered a Tri Max w/ Storm Blue and Slate Sky interior, without having seen anything in person. I think I'm gonna love it but am slightly weirded out by the 2-tone -- would love to see more than just the Rivian website images.

I saw it at the recent Seattle event

And i prefer the ocean coast with dark wood, mostly because of the black stitching on the ocean coast seats work really well with the dark wood accents.
It ties the interior together much better in my opinion.

One thing that seems like a big miss was for Rivian to only offer tri and quads with ascend interiors especially when from what I saw of the ascend trim yesterday.
It didn't look very premium.
Touch points seemed all the same meaning you get no extra plush or soft touch areas compared to standard interiors as far as I saw.
Ascend trims were Rivians chance to actually bump the level of comfort as a differentiator to standard interiors and they misread the assignment, so you end up with a color choice difference (yes they say better materials but I really couldn't tell).
As some others have said Rivian could have added massage seats, soft close doors , captains chairs, angled phone charger with air vent to keep phone cool and so many others things to bump the level of luxury in ascend interior.
Only difference seems to be the chromatic roof and restricted color options.
Fabric and material choices looked worse in my opinion not better. (Comparing Slate Sky to ocean coast. A saving grace might be that the slate sky may have been pre production but hard to tell)
It's obviously all a matter of taste but to me the wooden dash doesn't scream quality like I hoped it would when I saw it in person.
It does look great in photos though.
The seats in person look exactly how they look in pictures so that might help you.

I would rank slate sky on a par for looks with the black and green interiors (however in my opinion the green works better with its wood accents then slate sky does with its walnut)

On a good point a well appointed ascend tri works out about the same price as a similarly spec dual motor max with performance. So they are not gouging for ascend trims.

In answer to your question riviantracker has a walk through from the same seattle metro area event on his youtube channel of slate sky interior and also ocean coast with white dash (drag race)

My advice is to see it in person if you can.

I may not seem positive on it.
However it's not bad, it's just not a step up like I had hoped it would be.
And that being the case then the other original interiors seem to work together better.

If Rivian are strict about limiting tri/quad to ascend interiors then slate sky is most likely what I would go for if I really can't get ocean coast and dark dash.

Storm Blue exterior color looks amazing in person.

There's a new Out of Spec video on youtube talking about the charging curve of the new LFP battery. Rivian is supposedly coming out with a new software update that will improve the charging curve and maybe other things. That might be the reason for the delay.
Bummer to hear you weren’t a big fan. From pics and videos it does look gorgeous and premium & plush - the fabric (or at least soft-touch) backs of the front seats, the extra touches of plaid fabric accents, etc. Funny thing is that the Ascend trims actually helped ‘upsell’ me to the tri-max - I’d be fine with the power of the dual motor performance (though I’m sure I’ll enjoy the power and goodies from the tri max). I think I’ll have to go compare in person to make sure I’m not upselling for a bad reason. But the storm blue is also sooooo alluring.

Sirna7 I agree with you! In thr vids and photos it’s drool-worthy. But after zoro25’s comment I worry the vids/pics may be deceiving. Will have to go check out in person…

Same here. The Ascend trims are definitely a positive factor that makes me go that way. As are all the extra features that are included with the Tri Max that I would want to add on anyway, making the cost difference almost negligible.
