This is a common complaint that is often brushed off with, "this is normal." However in my case it was so rattly that it would set off the alarm if left running with the vehicle locked, in high heat. The SC said they found that the refrigerant was low, and evacuated/recharged it. Problem solved, and we have had record heat lately here. It's also improved the AC all around; faster to cool, more stable temp, and no rattle. It's an audible compressor for sure, but now it's not rattling. It was probably overworking.

I have seen a number of posts saying that some early builds had low refrigerant. My VIN is just over 10k and had never had AC service before.

This is exactly the same resolution I got from the service center but I dont hear a difference in noise

That's interesting, makes me wonder if anything else was done. Have you ever grabbed it and tried to move it? Mine was rather loose, and pushing/pulling it would reduce the noise. Wonder if they tightened something. I haven't looked since I got it back.

I resolved mine myself. The piece of foam you see was just for troubleshooting. As a permanent solution I installed foam rubber pipe insulation on a 6" section of the pipe there.

Can you provide pics of the installed foam pipe insulation solution ?
Is it a soft foam or closed cell hard foam?

Pipe insulation is a mid pressure closed cell foam. You don’t want open cell here. Dirt cheap.

What does any of this mean? More pictures, details and links to products would help us mechanically challenged folks.

It means that if your AC system is very noisy, pop the hood, simply lift off the top cover near the windshield and see if your AC compressor hose is rubbing against the plastic cowling. If it is rubbing, try the easy solution posted above.

This seems like a common issue. My 24 R1T also had low refrigerant. It's been significantly quieter/efficient since they refilled the system. Also had a loose mounting bolt that they retorqued. I posted a video in the discord and was told the noise normal. It was definitely NOT.

Mine has been worked on twice. Finally has cold air ..BUT, that rattling weedeater sound is as loud as ever. You can’t carry on a convo if it is running.. last for about 20 minutes on 90+ days, then is calms down and sounds like a normal AC.

I actually added a piece of Dynamat to that side which also seemed to have helped...

You wrapped dynamat around the pipe? Dynamat probably works better than pipe insulation as it's designed to absorb NVH.

Not around the pipe, but above the pipe, on the plastic panels. I wasn't sure if it was okay to have dynamat around the pipe.

having now seen yours, I'm tempted to add a slice of foam backed felt lining above the pipe as well.
