This is a common complaint that is often brushed off with, "this is normal." However in my case it was so rattly that it would set off the alarm if left running with the vehicle locked, in high heat. The SC said they found that the refrigerant was low, and evacuated/recharged it. Problem solved, and we have had record heat lately here. It's also improved the AC all around; faster to cool, more stable temp, and no rattle. It's an audible compressor for sure, but now it's not rattling. It was probably overworking.
I have seen a number of posts saying that some early builds had low refrigerant. My VIN is just over 10k and had never had AC service before.
