After the 19.04 update the map option on my driver display doesn't work. Also, the roomy entry/exit hasn't been working. Anyone had these problems resolved with a hard reset? I have never done a hard reset and am wondering if I lose all my settings if I decide to do it?

Why would you go to hard reset before trying a soft reset? A soft reset (holding the leftmost button and the right most button on the steering wheel at the same time, until the screen resets) affects only the infotainment system which seems to be where your issues reside.

Hard resets are much more invasive and can out significant strain on your low voltage battery.

You will not lose settings. Technically, it isn't even a 'hard' reset in computer terms. It's just a full-vehicle restart. And the 'soft' reset is just an infotainment restart. More of a 'turn it of and on again' type thing.

Thank you for the replies! I'll try a soft reboot today and hopefully that will do it

It depends on what you mean by "hard reset." Too many people misuse the term to mean a second-level reboot of the vehicle. Hard reset by definition has always meant restoring to factory defaults, but for some reason, Rivian people misuse it.

I'd do each of the three levels of resets in succession until you get results.

It’s because the owners manual clarifies them such…and those are the terms used by CS.
Do the “hard reset” (left button and hazards button). It will fix a lot of issues, does not alter your settings and counter to what someone else said does not negatively affect your battery or anything else…
It doesn’t hurt to try a “soft reset” first…if the issue is infotainment related….but as far as you’re concerned the only noticeable difference is a hard reset will take a little longer

The word "hard" doesn't appear in the manual at all. Where do these ideas come from, and even worse, why do people spread them?

LOL. Or infotainment restart/reboot, vehicle reboot, and actual factory reset to clear all settings. However, I'm pretty sure the factory reset doesn't do the vehicle reboot. On our Tesla it did not, for sure.

I also lost the map option on the driver’s display. Just noticed it yesterday. Haven’t bothered to try a reset.
______________

Just performed a software reset and the drivers display map option reappeared.

A hard reset (vehicle restart for the purists) is not just a longer time commitment. It's also riskier and adds stress to the low voltage battery system. This is why Rivian explicitly states not to do it more than once in an hour window. You can easily drain your 12V if you do.

So,the software reboot fixed the driver display map option but the jury is out on the roomy entry/exit!
Here's the history on it: The roomy e/e has never worked right. Even after the SC worked on it. I've always had to unlock all the doors to get it to work and have recalibrated the seat several times. It would work but slowly lose the setting on my seat. Now I can't get it to work at all.
Has anyone had this issue and found a solution? I don't want to do a vehicle reboot, because of all the negative results I've read about, but I will if that is what has worked to fix the problem for other people

@RiviALAN, have you tried calling 855-RIVIAN-5 for advice?

I have a lot more confidence when I have one of Rivian's service advisors on the line.

They talked me through our R1S' frunk-won't-close problem and got me back on the road, with the problem solved -- it hasn't recurred in the four months since.

That didn't involve a vehicle reset, but it was tricky in its own way.

Best wishes!

Dave, I have the mobile service coming next week, so I’m going to ask them about it. If they don’t have an answer I will definitely call the number you suggested! Thank you
