Congrats! It’s a great vehicle, we’ve been loving ours.
Regarding that charger…Wow! How?! I have a gen 2 as well, little over a month now and the charger won’t work, chargers slow and over heats iPhones and they slide around. I’ve tested with iPhone pros, iPhone 11 Pro as well.
m assuming it’s the same mat as mine, with a divider in the middle?
Yup. Same one. I guess it’s a hit and miss thing. Thing is I drive very chilling. Plus the suspension on these Rivians make it for a really comfortable ride. I’m not a fan of wireless charging on a vehicle. Testing it on mine works fine. I started getting pro max iPhones since Apple started making them. As you know they give the best battery. I leave home at 6:30 am get home before 5 pm. With my daily work usage I get home with 40% battery. Honestly to me my phones battery life isn’t an issue. The wireless charging pad on the last 2 XC90 I leased were horrible. Never worked. So believe me Gen 2 is better at this. If I ever find myself in need of a quick charge I’ll just plug it in.

You know what’s a game changer for me? All the usb c plugs in this car. Finally I’m driving a 3 row SUV with those on a 3rd row. Now every single kid has somewhere to plug in. Now my 12 year old (boy/girl) twins like to seat in the 3rd row. People with no kids have no idea how this is very important for parents ?

Picked up my first EV yesterday. Miami here. Did a demo in May. I did Gen 2 R1S La Silver DM standard pack. I drive 125 miles a week. My office 2 mins away from Miami SC. I live 15 mins away. I can charge at work. It’s a dedicated line for me. It’s a family owned business and we also own the warehouse. I live 2 mins away from a Wawa with 8 superchargers. Already received the new updated AZ2 adapter last week. I tested it this morning and it was super easy smooth. Considering all the negative stuff I’ve read here on the AC and premium audio they both are good on mine. AC is super good. Yesterday I had to lower it a little. Got cold. Mind you is 100+ here everyday. My previous lease was a 2023 XC90 with bowers & wilkins sound system. That was an awesome sound system. Premium audio is good. I tweaked some settings and truly enjoying it. So far no issues whatsoever with this Rivian. My kids love it. My wife likes it too. So much more space and storage. Love it how with a forward facing car seat behind passenger on 2nd row you can still slide that seat all the way forward and have access to the 3rd row. This is clutch. Previously only had access to 3rd row via the other side. Everything seems to be working just fine. Phone key. Etc. No issues. I was so worried and scared about actually getting it. Stuff I read on here and Reddit truly worried me. Not anymore. I’ll update as I put more miles on it. BTW I only lease. I did 36/15k. No money down. Received the Gen 2 all weather mats Monday. Installed them already. I like them. Did tints today. Ceramic front windows and ceramic clear windshield.

Oh yeah my native Spotify app works just fine. I read on here it sucked. Did I mention I don’t miss Apple CarPlay? I only used it for Apple Music and Waze. We are soon getting native music app. I would also like Sirius native app. For now playing via Bluetooth from my phone is fine too. I don’t like to text and drive nor did I used Siri much for that via Apple car play while driving. 42 father of 4 running a family business. Honestly on my drives alone I just to listen to music or sports talk and relax. I like my peace inside my car. No calls. No text. It can wait.

Bravo! Thank you for posting this. As the saying goes “bad news travels fast and good news doesn’t travel at all.” You have made me excited about getting mine in the next two months. Thank you! PS. I owned a Tesla for 9 years and loved it. There were lots of negative posts…many were, it turns out from short sellers, trying to tank the stock. I never had an issue with my S. Can’t wait for my Rivian Truck!

Thinking about the charger it could be the pro max? With its larger size perhaps it doesn’t move around as much, allowing it to keep charging. Also agree though every car is different on wireless charging and if I really need to charge I just plug it in.

I hear you on the USB plugs in 3rd row! It’s awesome how well equipped the 3rd row is, charging ports, storage, air vents and heated seats! It’s amazing how something simple like charging ports and air vents makes the 3rd row a lot more comfortable. Also kids love having their own sun roof!

Glad it helped. I had been waiting to post this. I just wanted to help others and show not everybody has a bad experience. 1 week before my pick up I was reading negative stuff and having 2nd doubts. I was wondering if I was ready for this. Not just going EV for the first time but a Rivian. I almost cancelled my order and said screw the $500. Glad I didn’t. I leased a 2021 and 2023 Volvo XC90 and went thru the same struggles. Both on forums and Reddit I read how bad they were. Guess what? Not a single issue with those 2 SUV’s. They did me well. Pleasure to drive. Great quality. I just needed something more comfortable for the kids. More storage. Also didn’t help Volvo hasn’t refreshed the current XC90 in years. Who knows if they will now that EX90 in production. I did have a pre order on that from 3 years ago. I cancelled last year and got my money back. The more I’ve seen and read Tesla/Rivian are leading the pack with EV’s for sure.
BTW macrumors Apple forums are the worst when it comes to negativity. I laugh every year when new iPhone comes out. If you believe half of that stuff you would believe Apple sucks. Well I’ve never had a single issue with any of my iPhones nor all the Apple products in my house (we have many of them). I wish you a great pick up experience. Get some good sleep the night before. Don’t forget to post here and let us how everything went.

I agree on pro max size helping the cause. My phone barely moves. Plus I have a good spigen case on it. It’s non slip. Size and case must defiantly help.
Also you are 100% correct on 3rd sun roof. Totally forgot. Now all of sudden the younger shorter twins love the 3rd row. It’s no longer a discussion on who wants the 2nd row instead. My daughter told my oldest 14 year son “you can have your 2nd row.” He is almost 6 feet tall BTW so 3rd row isn’t the best for him. He does love the 2nd row screen on the Rivian for sure.
My kids all play sports. You know how beneficial that storage behind the 3rd row under compartment is? It’s just wow. I’m keeping their basketballs/soccer ball in there inside a net. I know that’s where spare tire would go but I haven’t used a spare tire in 20 years. I’m just going to buy a good tire kit/jack puck and call it a day. If I ever run into tire problems just put a plug and get it patched the next day.

Great post, and welcome! As you've probably learned already, many people come online just to complain. Happy owners aren't on forums as often - they're out enjoying their vehicles. ☺ Safe travels, and hope she gives you many miles & smiles!

You are referring to this here? So before I head out I always click on the fan to turn on AC and cool the cabin. I click on this icon as well?

Congrats and welcome to the family, @JSMIA !

I will say, I was ambivalent about the lights on the Gen 2, but I liked the look of those wheels (a minority opinion, it might seem, based on this forum), but... your ride looks absolutely awesome! I'm not sure if it's the tint or the silver, or what, but I am thoroughly impressed.

I hope you enjoy it!

Thank you all on your responses.
I believe those who are enjoying/liking their new toy are too busy to come on a forum.
Meanwhile those who dislike it come on a forums to complain about it. I mean who else they gonna complain to? The neighbors?
Lately in life there’s more complainers than enjoyers.
