No Apple Music w/ Android phone?

Apple tells me that you cannot have Apple Music if you have an Android phone. Does that ring true?

I've read the thread you posted. It says Apple Music supports Android but I'm referring to the Rivian offer for 90 days. Apple says offer not valid.

An apple music subscription should have nothing to do with what phone OS you use... apple music is available on dozens of platforms, vehicles, tvs, computers, etc.

The only reason I can imagine your 3mo. trial might not be valid is that you've used an apple music trial in the past. These trials are typically only good for new users.

Should is the key world. It shouldn't be required, but sadly it appears that it is.

According to the Apple tech support employee I worked with, it is not possible to create the type of account you need to be able to login without using an apple device.

The account that you create if you sign up for apple music on an Android phone will not work.

Apple told me the only way to create an account that would work was to hunt down a family/friend/neighbor with an iPhone and add the new account to their device's mail app. Then login to http://appleid.apple.com/ via web browser one more time, and that would activate the account. At that point you can remove the account from the borrowed device and the account will remain functional without ever needing an iPhone again.

I don't know if this is a bug, or Apple intentionally trying to force people into buying iPhones. But the Apple support tech I worked with appeared to be very familiar with the workaround/loophole.

I ran into the same issue trying to activate a free year of @pple tv when I got a new TV. No luck from android or Linux web browsers even with tech support, it kept trying and failing to open some non-existent @pple app. So I'm not at all surprised that we can't get anything on rivian. Connect minus... I wish they'd just give us good stereo USB audio for the mountains and backcountry and not these useless streaming options. </rant>

works great for me and have Android only, except for a 8 year old iPad for this reason and other apps that don’t work well on Android.

What you said here aligns with my same issue, I got a free 6 months through Verizon, had it running on my android phone, it wouldn't let me sign into truck app because the ID created with Verizon isn't a valid AppleID, Apple said Verizon had to fix it... So I sat on the phone for 1 hour with a very patient Verizon Rep Friday they don't have access to create AppleID's so it was use someones IOS device or just have app on phone....

I use Apple Music on an Android phone as my daily driver. Before the Connect+ update, I streamed it over BT. I did have issues logging in with the QR code after the update, but that eventually resolved itself later in the day.

I also was not allowed to claim the Apple Music trial (understandably) because I already had an account prior to this offer.

I just signed up for the 90 day trial with my Google pixel. It worked just fine. The subscription just showed up a little weird. It says 30 day free trial followed by two months of $0/month.

I am on Android and with Google Fi as my carrier and had no problem setting up the free trial.

I signed up using my Apple is that's a decade or more old. I used it during my iPod days with iTunes and has purchased music. I have never owned an apple device except an iPod. Looks like new accounts are having the problem.
