I hope they look at this stuff and don’t just write WNL in their progress notes—‘we never looked’, and not ‘within normal limits’

Should we open tickets on this?
I plan to add it to the several items that are already on my service ticket for my December SC appointment.

I think opening a ticket is a good way to create pressure on Rivian. For a long time, they ignored this problem, provided mutually exclusive statements (2 miles is normal, no 2% is normal), etc.

For me 0.1% is normal per 24 hours, that is 130 watts of power when the car is stationary in the garage with all unlock features turned off. 2% is almost 3kWh per day, this is insane. 1 mega watt of wasted power in 1 year.

Thanks to the forum I am not installing the update. Funny enough, each time I was switching to parking on my road trip, even when I had 1% of SoC Rivian asked me to start the update.

They need to get their software stack together, work on bugs, and solve them before they invest in other things. Just improving Driver+ could be a huge thing. The current status of Driver+ is embarrassing, and JR should be ashamed of this. Maybe he needs to drive a BMW x5 from 2021 for 1 hour with driver assist + to see how this should be implemented (btw, they use the same Mobileye).

There are more than 100,000 Rivian's out there, and thankfully, not each of them are needlessly consuming energy at the rate of 1 mW annually as mine apparently is on track to do. I would think that fixing this would be a priority for a company that prides itself on Eco-freindliness.

The annual cost is not trivial for folks who have to rely on the grid either.

Unfortunately you will not be able to put this one off forever. If I remember correctly it will get pushed in a small amount of time.

I have noticed an increase, may be just I am watching more, but will try to track. I charged to 85% 2 nights ago and before I got in the truck it was already down to 84%. Last night I charged to 70% and may not drive today, so I will keep an eye out.
I charge to 70% and it used to be 69% every morning but now it’s 68%

Eco-friendly is a buzz to attract "green" customers. In reality, this is business only, and BS in general. Not just Rivian, almost 99% of the companies. Sadly, people are still buying this ...

By the way, each one of them wastes between 0.5 and 1 megawatt per year. Each one of them. Most people just do not pay attention

And STILL significantly more efficient that gas counterparts. Thanks for visiting.

With the changing battery pack sizes, I think it’s time to start listing daily loss in kWh.
I do not see a signifying change with the newest software. I am pretty consistently at 0.9 kWh per day for losses.

I understand that gen 2 will be better due to their compartmentalized systems such that certain systems can be completely off when the car is sleeping.

I have been consistently seeing 1 - 1.5 kWh per 24 hours since I started tracking back at 2023.50.1. Still seeing the same as of 2024.27.01 with two tracked intervals. This is with the Alarm On, Motion Cam On (with "Off at Home" selected), parked in my carport which is far enough from my house that the truck is never "seeing" my phone or fob.

How is this connected? It is not a discussion ICE vs BEV,.

1 megawatt is almost 30 gallons. So 100k cars * 30 gallons is 3 million gallons wasted each year.

There seem to be many issues being reported as of the last update. Rivian doesn’t seem to have a solid process in place to verify their new builds prior to releasing them to the masses. Problems are reported after each release. The last one seems to be the worst I have seen. They are digging a hole with each release. When they release a new, it breaks the old. How do they recover?
