Hey guys,

I just wanted everyone to know that even though Costco does not have it listed, you can go to their tire department and have them call Michelin directly, they will ship the 21 inch Defender tires to Costco, and you can get them installed with the Costco warranty!! I just ordered a set of 4 tires. My Pirelli's lasted me 34K miles, but the Defenders are better rated with a 70K warranty from Costco. They are also $110 less per tire compared to the Pirelli's.

Costco will generally do this for the brands they carry (I think they only carry BFG/Michelin/Bridgestone/Firestone).

How did they do with the lifting pucks? My past warranty comms with Michelin were all positive.

One other advantage with CostCo, you can order tires when there is a really good promo (like Memorial Day) and they will tolerate holding onto the tires until you are ready to install.

My 21" set seem to have decided they don't want to be replaced and thread depth has remained strong the whole summer. Asked the tire department and they just asked me to get them installed within a year of order.

Costco has the pucks. They install tires for Tesla cars all the time.
I think the Tesla pucks are different from the ones Rivians need. At least the pucks that my CostCo had that they said they use on Teslas.

Ok, I did not know that Tesla pucks were different than Rivian. I bought aftermarket pucks for the Rivian and keep them below the shelf in the frunk so that I have a set of four for any emergencies. Cost me about $130 on Amazon, they are all aluminum, but I just wanted the peace of mind.

My Costco doesn't yet have its own Rivian pucks, but they took the time to learn how to lift Rivians with my pucks. @Mark_AZR1T of www.jackpucks.com was very helpful with this.

I'm glad I got Mark's products when they were still clearly made in the USA. Now neither Mark's website, nor Mark's forum messages, say where they're made. So I can't be as enthusiastic as I was about the product -- but Mark is still a great guy.

Best to all!

Unsolicited shoutout to @Mark_AZR1T and Jackpucks. One of the first purchases I made after I got my S. Quality is great and when there was a hiccup, they went above and beyond to make things right without being asked.

All of our original aluminum work was done in the US. Unfortunately, the US gave up commercial production of high energy and high temperature NdFeB magnets a long time ago, so it's all off shore unless you are aerospace or DOD. They are restarting the only two mines in N. America, so all raw material is outside sourced at present for all commercial applications.

No manufacturer uses USA based NdFeB magnets or cases, regardless of what anyone states. I understand the field, as it was one of my areas of expertise in college. My college class mate runs a factory in Hong Kong, so he produces everything for me. If you can't supply cases in America or NdFeB magnets with the performance I demand, then you go off shore.

We offer the highest energy magnets with the highest temperature rating, period. My Rivian has more than 100 components from China, including all of the suspension control arms and wheels. It's a global economy for good/and or bad.

Hope that clarifies. You can't buy a puck from anyone that doesn't use SE Asian magnetics and cases, because there aren't any that wouldn't drive the price up considerably (if you could find them).

Yep, local Costco has the Rivian pucks as well. I specifically asked about if they can safely lift the truck and if they have the special adapters. The desk guy said: yep, we have the pucks and have done other Rivian vehicles before.
FYI, Costco road hazard warranty is prorated like every other retailer.

Thanks, Mark!

Unfortunately, neither you nor I created this crazy world, in which civilian procurement is treated purely transactionally, without regard to any human rights or national security considerations.

There is value in purchasing, whenever possible, things made and assembled in democratic countries with good human rights records. Nothing is perfect, but I hope you'll do what you can in this respect.

Very best wishes!

You're welcome Dave. It was only last week when someone asked me to take a photo of the lower control arms, so I could recommend a floor jack lifting location when I came across this.....Turns out the Tundra is the most American made truck in America! Oxymoron....

Costco doesn't use road force balancers which is a huge no no for me to take any of my luxury cars or Rivian there. Typical techs who rush to mount and balance tires. In more than 15 years I never go to Costco or discount tire for this. Big difference for me as the ride is much smoother without vibration using road force machines at independent installers. Michelin offers the 70k warranty themselves not Costco. The road hazard is offered by tirerack too just saying.
