Understood, and I'm expecting good things, but have we seen a Rivian wear these shoes in snow yet?
I haven’t heard of anyone’s personal experience. Snow testing was part of the tire development process. Goodyear and Rivian approved the performance.

This is a comparison of 20” OEM Pirelli (left), Yoko Geolandar CV 4S (middle), and Goodyear Wrangler OEM (right).
Pirelli appears to be off-road focus but good siping for improved snow/ice performance.
CV 4S has extra siping to enhance snow/ice handling as well as denser tread.
The wrangler appears to be more off-road focused and tread and siping suggest ok snow/ice performance likely at a lower level than the other two. But I’d be curious what others think…

The tread pattern plays a role in snow performance along with the compound material properties, and the contact patch or footprint.

@B Digs I'm planning to get these installed, but when I go to the link you posted on the Goodyear site, and I select the 2023 R1T with 20inch rims, it's showing that they may not fit the truck. I'm assuming this is a bug on the website, but it's hard to tell if I'm just picking the wrong tire. Is there any way to know?

Yes, these are indeed the tires designed for R1 Gen 2 with the correct 116 load index. For our Gen 1 vehicles, the stock 20" tire is a 275/65R20, so the website flags it for not being the OE size for Gen 1. I can confirm this tire does indeed fit and performs well. The Goodyear 275/60R20 designed for Rivian is a 33" OD, the stock Gen 1 275/65R20 has a 34" OD. As a result, the speedometer, odometer and efficiency charts are off by 3%. It is frustrating that I have not been able to get Rivian to update the software for my vehicle, but I have gotten used to subtracting 3mph from the displayed speed. Hopefully, Rivian will resolve this software situation in the future.

I have the Quad motor. All Purpose mode and mix of city and hwy.

This is approximately mile 500-700 on the new Wranglers. With the 3% adjustment, they’re pretty much the same as my Pirellis and as you can tell, I don’t drive aggressively.

I still have noise above 50mph but have a service appt next month so we’ll see what happens.
I was all set on these tires last I dove into this rabbit hole a few mos back but now I’m not so sure. I HATE my current 20” Pirellis and priorities for me are road noise and efficiency (would be nice if winter performance is decent but we don’t off road and roads mostly plowed well here).

@J400, did Rivian have any insight to the noise and efficiency on your vehicle?

@LeftMySoulinNM, I am very pleased with how this tire performs for noise and efficiency on my R1T. The feedback I’ve heard from others has been mostly positive.

I just wish Rivian would recalibrate for the size change for us. That’s probably the biggest thing holding me back, also the lack of warranty is a drag - both of those issues has me back to considering the stock size in the michelin defender ltx platinum (they weigh a lot though). So many pros and cons to weigh.

My service appt is scheduled for Nov 11 but I’m fairly certain at this point that the noise from the tires is not related. The noise from the suspension is metal on metal.

The tire noise starts exactly at 53mph but it seems to taper off at higher speeds. Not sure if it’s because of overall noise at higher speeds nevertheless I’ve pretty much gotten used to it.

I’m close to 2k miles on the Wranglers and the efficiency has settled in at 2.32m/kwh. That’s 2.25 with the 3% adjustment which is better than the 2.17 I was getting with the Pirellis. I estimate these tires will get 10-15 more miles on a full charge.

Overall, they are worth a try and I’m relatively happy with them. I’ll be heading up to the mountains this winter and if they are not at least decent in snow under cautious driving, I might have a different opinion.

Switched from 21s. Had the

Rivian updated the software yesterday from 21s to 20s. Efficiency to date:

So you originally had 21 tires and switched to the 275/60/20 tires which are both 33 inches. Why did you have Rivian change your computer to the 34 inch 275/65/20 size?

See below, I'm also curious. Did the switch to 275/65R20 or 275/60R20 programming? What do your vehicle screen wheels look like?

I'm with you, brother...

it is what Rivian recommended and (related) it would provide more accurate range estimates. I of course could be mistaken.
My assumption is that the setting would be essentially the same as the Gen 2 T with the same tires.
I'll see what Rivian says and if I hear back will post it.

Yeah if they did the change to the Gen 2 size 275/60/20 AS Goodyear tire then that’s great to hear. But if they did it to the 275/65/20 AT size then they did you wrong. Let us know thanks.
