After becoming frustrated with the Apple Music implementation (soooooo buggy/limited), installed the EV Sportline Smartscreen to get CarPlay into my Rivian. It's been great (ABRB, Apple Maps, Google Maps, Messages, just to name a a few). Just one exception and super annoying thing: Rivian is in garage and CarPlay connects to Smartscreen so my phone call, audio etc. jumps over to the Rivian. After a bit of searching, there's no easy way to turn CarPlay on/off. To turn it off, you have to drill down through three (?) menus.

The closest one can get to quick switch for turning CarPlay on/off is to use Shortcuts as follows:

In the Shortcuts App
create a new Action and search for Safari
select Open URLS and enter
prefs:root=General&path=CARPLAY

Click on the Action at the top of the screen to name it, choose icon and then Add to Home Screen.
Credit to the user invisiblegarage that came up with this solution.

That is a great solution . Thanks for sharing.
I had the same problem and bought a USB-C switch. I just turned CarPlay on and off with the dashboard switch. Something like this. Mine cost about two dollars at the store.

Connect it to a power source that turns off when you leave the car. Simple fix. Also the EV Sportline is a junk Chinese unit you can get on Aliexpress for less than half the price. I'm using this one which is far better:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0CKXF3RST

And I'm on the final (I think) iteration of this 3D printed mount:

Looks great, Do you know if the hookup is similar to Evsportline screen? Did seller provide hookup wiring? The mount you drew up. It looks like it's similar to the one the shown in the Evsportline install video. Kind of wedges underneath the top dash panel above the existing screen. Did it work?

I love CarPlay. Looks like a good unit, how do you activate voice commands?

Cn you easily have multiple phones configured. If I jump
In it connects to my phone, if my wife jumps in it connects to her phone?

Happy if you will sell a mount when you are done.

As far as connecting to a power source that goes off, I assume that is just using the right fuse? Or is there a document connect like a sprint EK1?

The connection is identical, but they don't provide the cable. It's around $14 on Amazon. The mount I'm using was created by someone else orginally, but had a few mods needed, so I'll upload a remix file soon. It just came out of the printer and looks great. It's SOLID. It is similar to EV Sportline's but with one more support for less wobble/flex. I've printed several versions and they work but needed improvements.

Just the usual "Hey Siri."

I have no idea how, but it works perfectly. So far, it has never fought over our phones. I drive if we're together, and it always takes my phone. The Rivian doesn't always, but the CP unit does.

Correct, I think you want one of these...

F46, front power port
F47, USB row 1 and 3
F48, USB row 2
F51, frunk power port
F54, tunnel power port

I think I will take F51, I can't imagine what I'd ever use that power port for.

I'll do a video, photos, and list of parts when I'm done. It all works great, just needs to be perfect, because I'm a princess.

Also, make sure you turn off proximity lock/unlock at home. With that off and the latest software updates in the truck, mine no longer wakes up all the time when I walk by with my phone.

This may or may not be needed. At my house, it's not. I mean, it wakes up if I walk by, but not from inside the house. But yeah, in some houses this could be the issue.

I was talking about in the garage. I have a detached garage and it would wake up when I went out to that garage. I think they have updated the software to wait until the door is opened As long as proximity is off.

I like the mount, nice work! Re: connect to power source that shuts off. I did do this (per installation instructions an via fuse tap) and also have phone unlock proximity set to only work while away from home. But, it still powers on enough to get the Smartscreen going which then catches bluetooth on phone.

Thanks, that's an interesting approach! I may give this a shot rather than needing to disable CarPlay for unit every time I'm at home. Then, if I forget to turn it off via hard switch, can always default back to Shortcut (belt and suspenders!).

Do you recall which fuse you used? I've been running my CP unit from the 12v power under the dash, and it fully powers off.

Thanks for reply. I don't fully recall which one it was, just followed the EVSportline instruction/direction. Maybe I got it wrong?
