Please enable the subwoofer wire on non-premium sound systems to pass a full spectrum audio signal across it. The wire is there (running from the amp to the back corner of the vehicle), the amp is software configurable, so this would be for people looking to do an aftermarket amplifier but didn't want to tear apart their interior to do so.

How much of the improved efficiency in Gen2 is due to software enhancements? If there were software improvements effecting range, have/will any of the changes make it to Gen1?

PLEASE enable geofence features, specifically for folding mirrors and triggering homelink. In my Tesla, it's zero buttons to get into my garage. In my Rivian, it's 3 or more depending on what kneel mode is doing.

And please fix the rear view camera. I want it on all the time, but the car decides to change to the front camera despite the software settings to not do that (switch to front camera when shifting to drive). And why do I need backup lines on the rear camera when I'm on the highway??? If I'm going above 17mph, turn the backup lines off!

This would be great! As it is, if you create one custom setting, any previous settings are gone. No way to easily compare custom settings back-to-back.

In a serious infotainment question - when are they going to fix the broken FM/HD Radio thumbnail?

Showing the HD Radio broadcast image would be preferred, like every other HD Radio capable vehicle I've owned, but even just showing the station identifier like it did when I took possession of my vehicle until it broke to look like this after an update in 2022 would be acceptable.

When they added media info to the rear screen, I thought they'd fix this. When they added media info to the driver screen, I thought they'd fix this. But nope, two years since the OTA update broke this, and it still looks like this. (For every FM or HD Radio station, across multiple states, so know it isn't just my local stations broadcasting this way, and the fact that it has persisted across dozens of OTA updates and multiple infotainment and full vehicle resets (including a 12V battery replacement "complete shutdown/restart") shows it isn't just my vehicle or a "haven't rebooted in a while" artifact.)

Hi Quinn - Love your content going way back and I hope the new studio works out the way you hope it will. Here is my question:

Rivian has repeatedly promoted the audio experience in the R1 as, "an incredible listening experience." * and your team released an update in August ** that included Dolby Atmos and a measurable improvement to sound system quality. Unfortunately, the very next update your team launched degraded audio performance notably and measurably. ***

My questions are what happened, has this been recognized internally as an issue, and what is the team doing to correct the problem?

@Snazzy Labs I did the analysis RWerksman references above and would add:

How are changes to the audio system QA’d? Are audio engineers listening to the results of software changes before OTAs roll out? The performance of the Elevation and Meridian systems change significantly—better and worse—and can be materially different between systems with each audio system update.

Case in point: I recently measured a Gen 1 R1S Meridian 2024.39.01 and Gen 1 R1T Meridian 2024.39.01. It appears that TIDAL now streams at a low bitrate on Meridian systems. Many owners are audio enthusiasts and pay for TIDAL’s high quality. My Gen 1 R1S Elevation system on 2029.39.01 doesn’t have this problem but had a different problem: Dolby Atmos failed to render important audio objects until after a soft reset.

Happy to provide more data and analysis to help Rivian improve their QA process.

“How do you test software updates before release?”

100% this. I'm desperate for a way to stop doing updates regularly, it seems every other update something goes wrong where i have to bring my vehicle back to the SC. I'd like to see a more thorough S/W release program personally.

I agree with the question, but there is no way he will answer it if they won't answer it in the earnings call. The earnings call would have the right people authorized to answer also. I bet answers to that kind of question needs a lot of approval because it would likely have a direct impact on the stock price. I suspect he will stick to technical questions only.

He's the head of software; why on earth would you expect him to answer?
