Will you get any tire credit with the tread wear warranty on your truck? The Michelins have a 70k treadwear warranty.

You hit on the same questions I had regarding buying from TireRack (TR) and have Discount Tire (DT) install them. They are really two halves of the same company since DT acquired them a few years ago. If there was a buy back program, I'd be a lot more inclined to buy them. Even if there was, I am not sure it could be done through DT if I bought them through TR.

Looking at the Rivian site, it doesn't seem like a big hit in efficiency to go with them (GoodYears). I get that since they are an OEM tire they don't have a treadwear warranty. I also don't want to burn through them in 20k miles either. If I get 30k miles, I'd be happy.

Obviously longer is better but there is always a tradeoff. Longer wearing tires typically don't stick as well and that is one of my priorities. I've heard from a few people the Michelins aren't that good in the rain and don't have as good of dry grip. Their narrow tread (7.8") might play into that along with likely a harder rubber compound.

I am torn between the GoodYears and the LTX MS/2 at this point. My two concerns about the GY's are the tire life and possible noise at higher speeds. For the LTX it is traction. If GoodYear had a buy back program, I'd definitely give them a shot. The fact they were designed for our vehicles is a big plus compared to an off the rack tire.

Goodyear has A rating on traction with 580 UTQG compared to the michelin B traction and 800 UTQG. I'm currently leaning toward the goodyear for the traction. If I get 25k miles on it, I will be happy in Texas road.
Discount tires will give you thread warranty if you rotate them properly. Looks like I will get 2/3 of credit back since the general grabber will probably only get 20k miles

Credit is only good towards the same brand…
You might consider trying the following option:
General Grabber A/T X
All Terrain Light Truck tire
Will likely be noisy…

I talked to several people on here and they said you don't have to get the same brand to get credit. I never done this before

The A traction rating is what is causing me to lean toward the GY's over the Michelins. A few % in efficiency isn't that big of a difference to me 99% of the time. The improved traction would help everywhere for me. As I've mentioned elsewhere, my biggest concern is how the noise would be.

I have gotten credits but it is only for the same brand, so unless you find a loophole you will be stuck with General…if was in your shoes I’d just the HTS60 again since your cost will be less than half…

I never done this before but asked a few others specifially about it and they said u can switch brand for credits. If they don't allow, then I will stick with hts60. I guess not many tires will last more than 20k miles in Texas road and weather

It’s a tradeoff, you can get 2.4-2.5 MPK and only 9/32” tread, or you can get 2.2-2.3 MPK and 14/32” tread, one is 20k mile life and other is 30k…the extra tread life will cost extra since the tire is less efficient (you can save $10 per month with heavier duty tires but need to spend an extra $15 per month on electricity). This ballon’s if charging at $0.60/kwh chargers…costing an extra $50-$75 per month for the less efficient tires. It starts to get really crazy once you have a 60# tire and $0.60/kwh…paying extra $350 per month for that arrangement.

That has been my experience as well. They want to lock you in their ecosystem.

Rivian R1T R1S New Goodyear 20” tire option - available when? 1000001158

$/mi = (($/kWh)*(tread life/MPK) + tire cost)/tread life

What kind of efficiency are you getting with them?
I'm at 2.5 mi/kWh (3% adjustment for OD is 2.43) with the Goodyears. I have 5400 miles on my dual max performance with a mix of city and highway driving. Mostly All-Purpose mode, but some spirited driving mixed in.

Impressive numbers.
Remind me, did you attempt to ask Rivian to change your tire size in the software? Lots of conflicting info out there and the main thing holding me back on downsizing to these.

Yes, I have had many conversations with the service team about changing the tire size. Hopefully, this issue will be resolved at some point.
