I would echo all of the positives here. I really love my Dual/Max/Performance configuration as a package and a concept. Also it's my first EV, and the advantages in the right scenario are clearly documented. I am trying to be happy with it.
However- (and don't flame me... this is my opinion as a consumer) I paid Porsche money in cash for this vehicle...and I am having some anxiety or maybe buyer's remorse after living with it for a couple of months. I just don't feel like this R1T is going to go the distance for me in terms of build quality and service response. I like to think I can use a vehicle for 10 years. This feels a lot more like an iPhone with tires... I think a lease for me might have been a better choice so at least I could feel like I could opt out at the end of the term.
The concept and package are great, but the manufacturing quality is way off. The panels don't fit or align well. The hood is clearly out of whack as are the door shut lines. Also the hydro-forming and seams are finished with adhesive, and some of the manufacturing steps show hastily made joints and process steps that you don't see in newer cars from companies who have been doing this for a long time. The body feels like a 1970's era GM product - bolted and glued together without much sophistication.
Also (and yes I know I clicked <accept> on this at the beginning) I live 4 hours from the nearest service center... so any little issues are virtually impossible to address. So far I have a bed light out, and the front parking sensors completely freak out when it rains, which means I have the "clean the sensors" nag flashing at me every 5 seconds when it rains. None of these issues have even been responded to via the service app.
Also for the money how come I can't get a spare and a jack? I can't even order one.
None of these are actual deal breakers... but I don't have a glowing sense of confidence in Rivian right now. I didn't even get into the sales experience, which was really sub-par. I keep telling myself to just get over it since the car does work, performs well except for the tiny items above... but I do feel they have a perception problem they need to address.
Caveat Emptor.
