Of what year? ?
Carter,

Honestly, I hope yours is one of the many that arrive this year. I'm still of the mindset that it's best not to be in a rush to put out a high quantity of vehicles. It's a stream of high quality vehicles that a company will be warmly remembered for.

When I see early Model 3's rolling down the road ten years from now, I'll still remember the clown tent in Fremont. ?

If I am not mistaken Rivian said that LE folks would be contacted by a guide by the end of November. Guide contact does not necessarily mean an imminent (1-2 week)delivery.

Again if I am not mistaken Rivian said that LEs should all be delivered Spring 2022.

The current silence from Rivian and the general public would suggest a slip in the above dates is probable.
I sent my personal gripes to them about possibly missing 2021 delivery for tax credit (Dec2018 pre-order LE R1T in Seattle area), to which I got:
"We have a general outlook of all Launch Editions to be completed by Spring 2022. With that said, our Rivian Guides look forward to reaching out to our preorder holders by late November with a better timing window."

In theory, December to Spring 2022 is a better timing window than November to Spring 2022 lol.

Does anyone know if Rivian would let pre-order holders fly to Normal and visit the plant and do a test drive? Happy to pay my way there to check it all out.

Not yet anyway, you'll have to sign up for available events in your area.

Test drive at Normal isn't possible, but it is possible to fly into Venice, California where they have the Hub which should have R1Ts that you can at least sit in (powered up). Although that seems like a pretty expensive trip for an hour or two walking around an a R1T.

Too bad since there will be no events in my area.
I'd definitely reach out to CS (I'd recommend a call), and see what they can do. You won't be alone in this, and I guarantee there are others willing to travel. You're already going to be in Normal, IL for something else, right? ;-)

Actually, the mobile drives will be rolling out as the regional service centers open up, so your best bet would be to find one of those in a "convenient" location in the coming months.

I tried this before the first event in Normal. They said they would put a note on my account. I'm ok with traveling to almost any location but with the way they are doing rides I'm sure they have enough "locals" that might not get to go. I'll hit them up again in a week or two. I doubt they will have any drives in Alaska any time soon.

The California location that just opened up has the truck and SUV as permanent residents so you can always see them there in person. They will be offering test drives out of that location in the future, not sure when. Presumably, they will be offering test drives at all their showroom/ service center locations as they can leave enough vehicles at locations for that. But I think for now they’re going to focus on the traveling show model so they can keep most production for actual deliveries.

Pretty sure that's an awesome adventure location & they should shoot a video up there...
