1 year before warranty ends Im going to full send this thing so hard lol.
I'm 3k from being out of warranty and contemplated the same recently. Chances are you'll blow a ton of life out of it... But not quite 60k miles worth. Maybe give it the ol' Ruck-special and wind the miles back?

Replaced leaking center screen
Your center screen was leaking? Leaking what?? Is this like headlight fluid?

I would see if they will give you a break on costs. Say cover 50%. Can’t hurt to ask again.

Sorry to hear that John. Thanks for heads up. I am rapidly approaching 100K miles and I had them replaced under the warranty just shy of 60K.

That damper is in sad shape.

I have a 2018 Honda Odyssey that has some knocking coming from the front suspension. Got a quote from the dealer to replace the front strut for $1300 and the tie rod ends for another $900.

Considering the level of complexity of the suspension in the Rivian, $4k is a lot of money but it also isn't outlandish.

I agree, seems low to me as well.

I had a Jeep GC Overland that had the air suspension for 9 years, 120k miles and was still on the original suspension components when I got rid of it.
Jeep has a very reliable system. It is a closed system, which helps with reliability too.

I am still hopeful for an R1 trim to be released with standard suspension at a reduced cost (revamped Explore trim?). If I could get the Large Pack with coil suspension for the upper $60-low $70K range I would be happy.

Considering how advanced they are, I expected a higher number than 4k. Expensive car and expensive parts go hand in hand. That’s why every single legacy carmaker establish premium/luxury divisions—higher margins. They don’t do it for ego.

Yes the margins are higher but still small. Most of the increases in cost are because of increased performance and complexity means more expensive parts.

Sorry about this friend, but you may end up just eating this cost if you decide to keep the car.

This is part of the reason you see so many cheap last gen Land Rovers out there for sale with collapsed air suspension. Owners sometimes don't realize that the added complexity equals added cost. Add to that that the suspension on these vehicles is so specialized (and parts controlled), you aren't going to find cheaper replacements down at Autozone as DIY.

Labor for replacing these will also cost more money, as hydraulic lines will need bled, and I'm sure there is a specialized tool for doing it that's required.

Apparently they have some heavy viscosity fluid in the screens, it was slowly leaking out the bottom making a mess in the cubby below.

No one more surprised than I of this odd issue. ?
