My local dealership just received its first shipment of ID.Buzz. I am curious to see others reactions or if any members plan on picking one.

Personally feel it’s going to be hard to sell them at $60-75k for an EV minivan with 335hp and 230mi of range.

They may have a chance if they sell at $35-40k. But even so, I wouldn't buy it since the aesthetics is not my type.

They will sell some just based on nostalgia alone, but after the long delay, the specs are disappointing at that price. They would sell a ton of camper vans if they decided to go that route.

I'd strongly consider one at below $50k. Unfortunately it starts at $60k and 65+ for one that has most of the good features.

It's a low volume halo vehicle for them.

I think you’re being generous to just say the specs are “disappointing at that price,” haha. I think it might do better in the EU market though, and that’s what it’s designed for I guess.

I can picture the eGrateful Dead or eBeachboys driving one with esurfboards on the roof. Perhaps also eCheech and Chong , trailing smoke behind.

That a very disappointing range. It's not going to sell in the numbers VW is hoping, at least in the US.

I'm not sure they intend it to be a high volume vehicle honesty, or at least not right away. I think it is, as the name implies, primarily to generate buzz. Maybe in a few years they'll add a lower cost option to drive higher volume but I don't think they'd price it as high as it is if they wanted to sell a lot of them.

As someone with a Vanagon and Karmann Ghia, This is a Big miss on price, specs, and lack of a camper version.

How many years has a concept bus been around now? Since the first new beetle? You’d think that the top people at VW would know that their buses and vans are popular because they carry aspirations of affordable camping and travel, not because it’s the practical image of every van. It’s a real shame.

I want a modern Westfalia, not a Stellanis.

My name is Mike, and I have a (car) problem
3 years late, 15k over comp (for the range), and only in LWB.

It was my wife's #1 pick (3 years ago), but LWB killed it for her. EU is getting the Shorty, and we're not moving to Germany for a shorter Bus.

ETA - just discovered that the wheelbase is 131" or so, which is very near the R1T. That's like 3' longer than the original Bus. Good lord.

As everyone else has said, the price they are charging for the lackluster range and performance will not make these sell in large numbers.

I have fond memories of my Beetle and Vanagon, and would have considered the ID.Buzz. I think VW did a decent job in the looks department with it, but is very wide of the mark elsewhere. The combination of very modest range and luxury-car level pricing is one that will not likely lead to many sales.

I just did a survey for Rivian. They ask what percentage of my range do I use daily. Only about 10%.

I bought the max battery for a few long trips a year. My guess this vehicle will be great around town, not meant for road trips. I personally don’t know the battery chemistry, so I don’t know what it’s charged to daily and what is reasonable to drive it down to daily.

I think fit and finish will be important. If someone jumps in to test drive, does it feel, drive like a $60k car?

I love seeing competition.

All the ones around me have a market adjustment of +$7-$10k above msrp
I can't believe dealers are still pulling this shit. This is why I will never feel bad about a dealership losing their ass on cars in a down economy. Those people are pirates.
