Yup. Literally have to climb into my diesel (which is half of what makes it so great). But relative to that, the R1T feels like getting in and out of a car.

Won't push me to buy one, even though the electricity rates in California are getting crazy high.

It wouldn't surprise me going forward. Tesla sold more CT this year but that was due to pent up demand which has been exhausted.

You can find plenty of FS CT’s with hardly any miles for $20k off sticker. Plus in 100k miles, you’ve have spent 7-8 weeks of your life sitting at a super charger….no thanks ?

That would mean 50 weeks of your time pumping out gas, then, considering EV owners spend at most 1 minute in each charging session at home, where 95% of the charging might take place for most everybody.
ICE=Getting hands smelly, breathing in cancerous fumes, driving to some gas station, even when 20 below outside, the real noooo, thanks.

With onerous, absurd, scam prices at DC fast chargers, some charging $23++ per gallon energy equivalent compared to gas, a heck of a smoking deal when travelling on long trips.

Likewise having free Tesla supercharger electricity FOR LIFE, there is something very special, a very special feeling about pulling up to a Tesla supercharger in my Model S Performance, plugging in and being overwhelmed with the joy of giving absurd electricity costs the biggest middle finger. $0, zilch, nada it costs me to charge. And Tesla chargers are some of the less onerous around. One has to live it to grasp that joy. Truly priceless.

I've lived FUSC for 10 years. It's a powerful marketing tool to give people a "priceless" feeling, and I'd agree that if it has saved us $1k/yr in a 3mp/KWh car it could save ~$1.5k/yr at 2mp/KWh. But it can also be priced in rates, just how many extreme trips you plan, $22k Model S batteries or that $20k Foundation premium.

22 cent per kwh would be great.. but even with PG&E's rate for EV owners, you end up paying much more.. 32-51 cents per kwh. In the summertime, the peak costs are up to 64 cent. That is as of now and there will be at least one other rate hike until we get to summer 2025..

Makes me wonder if its cheaper to charge at home using a Gas generator haha

That's absurd. Makes one wonder if the founders of the scam DC fast chargers out there came from or are behind PG&E running the show also.

Is going solar an option for you?
In my previous home, I had a solar array; hot for most of the year, kept my home at 72 deg 24/7; charged two EVs. My utility bill never broke even $20 a month.
In my new homestead, electricity is dirt cheap at $0.07/kWh. No TOU rates, not needed. Cannot justify the cost of installing a solar array on electricity cost. It is the ever-increasing cost of natural gas that will make me pull the trigger on solar sooner rather than later.

I’m in SCE territory, their high prices really help with an ROI on solar. With net metering and a battery to run off of in peak rate time I have paid SCE $24 in the 3 years I have had my system. That includes charging the Rivian at home the last 2 years. ROI less than 45 months so less than 1.5 more years and it is fully paid for.
