Driver door on my R1T keeps jamming, I have been locked out of my truck and in my truck twice this week alone. It seems the latch gets stuck in a permanently open or permanently closed position. Locking/unlocking does nothing to move it. When it’s jammed and the door is open, I can fix it by flicking it back with a screwdriver. But when it jams when the door is closed, I’m totally locked in/out and have to climb out/in via passenger side. Have applied silicone spray, made no difference. Anyone else experiencing this?

I had my stuck open not shut. I was really upset ?. I eventually fixed it with a screw driver and a slim nose pliers. It hasn't happened again.

I had this once and was able to fix with a screw driver as well. Can’t remember exactly how, but I believe I just pried the locking mechanism on the door.

I had a mobile service fix this. They replaced my internal door components responsible for the open/close function. WD 40 into the mechanism did absolutely nothing for me. I believe the cable inside the door is sticking.

Mine was triggered by sub 15F temps.

We have twice been unable to get in or out of the passenger front door of our 2023 Rivian r1t. The first time in 2024 when it would not open or close for about 10 days, eventually Brooklyn service 'repaired' it. Then again last month the same door would not open or close whilst we were on a road trip. The day we were to bring it into Rivian service center in Blauvelt - it somehow would work again. The service people said that maybe it froze (we were in Vermont skiing). I have never had ANY car door freeze up in 30 plus years of driving.
They replaced the door mechanism in Blauvelt last week.
This vehicle has now had 4 significant failures in last 12 month , thus car has less than 18000 miles on the clock. My wife now will not drive it anywhere on a long trip - as she has lost all confidence in ths $95k vehicle.
If we have another major issue, we are likely to trade it for something more reliable.

Same. I had to wait a month (during which time the door froze many times with me both inside and outside) but I did finally get appointment. The locking mechanism and cable have been replaced. Lubricants did nothing because the fault was inside the cable, which is wrapped. It’s all good now but it was a scary thing to be frequently locked in and out while driving with a toddler. Hope Rivian figures this one out.

Same as you would any vehicle — I just Googled it and followed a generic video. Basically you press the latch in the door while pulling outer handle. This was not an option when I was locked in the truck, of course.

If you drive anywhere cold, I’d advise you to get the lock and cable replaced under warranty. My first time was a one-off in fall but in winter it happened loads.
