Cool. That adds up.

What I, and hopefully others might find fascinating, and I chose totally generic addresses for this simulation in ABRP between what folks are supposedly getting in their Model Y's and compared it to what in theory the efficiency of the R1S should be

ABRP Estimates under the following conditions (same for each)

Starting with 100% Charge
Weather is 25 Deg w/5 mph Headwind
Road Conditions Heavy Rain/Snow

Going from a random neighborhood (ok Selwood where some acquaintances of ours live) to the Mt. Hood Ski Bowl and back...

The R1S Large Pack (135) arrives back safe in Portland with 55% left?!? The Model Y, only theoretically 5% more at 60% range left?!? Neither of which needing charges?!?

Something has to be off. ?

@xyskis how long do you charge in the Y going to Mt. Hood and back?

Don’t mean to get too much further off-topic on this thread to happy to take this over PMs.

Haven’t used that route finder before. Minor differences; I live in SW PDX and ski at Meadows. I drive 5-15+ speed limit depending on traffic and road conditions and don't alter hvac behavior compared to the ICE SUV. Indeed, I turn on the defrost as we take the run to the car via the Tesla App. I haven’t had the need to charge yet but have come close, always starting at 99-100% at home but normally keep it at 80% for daily use. Sometimes when I go through Hood River I’ll stop by Stave and Stone for some charging and apres ski.

pulls the curtain back on the paid subscription & L3 capabilities fees that Rivian expects $15,500 from a typical customer. that's a lot of dough! and I sure hope I don't have to spend $3,500 on vehicle maintenance.

Maintenance is probably tires, brake pads and blinker fluid.

And only 3 service centers in Canada... Vancouver, Calgary and Toronto. I guess in Montreal we should get the R1T sometime in 2025 !

Isn't the upper right dot in Quebec most likely Montreal?
Perhaps the one that appears to be in Buffalo NY is Toronto?

The map doesn't exactly have accurate proportions.

I'm not planning to purchase tires directly from Rivian - the OEM Blinker juice for sure.

seriously, not sure what to make of that. wish it had a footnoted, expanded breakdown.

Apologies if this has been answered, but if the stock does something crazy (meaning goes sky high) once it starts trading, are we allowed to sell or are we under the same 180 day lock in period like insiders, etc?

I'd agree, I'd like to see a breakdown as well ... tires at dealerships (although Rivian isn't a dealer), are usually way more expensive than getting them elsewhere (Costco, Discount/America's Tire, etc). Brake pads should be pretty rare if you master one pedal driving, I recall reading that the brake pedal only actuates the friction brakes. And yes, OEM Blinker fluid is harvested directly from the tears of Coal and Oil Industry Executives. Rivian will be the only source of this rare excretion.

Dunno, could go either was I suppose. On one hand we are participating just like everyone else and therefore the rules could be the same. On the other hand, the lockup is primarily for the institutions investing in extremely large chunks that they don't want selling. I doubt the full 7% will get allocated to the DSP, and even if half sold everything it wouldn't move the needle on the stock.

Not really brake pads. There would likely be a cooling system flush at some point over 10 years, plus these are adventure vehicles that at least some could have some non-EV type of maintenance needs from that type of driving. A suspension tuning could be in cards for many over the course of ten years...

I think when I registered on SOFI there was wording for having to hold for X days.
Don't recall seeing that on the Morgan Stanley portal.

The 180-day lock up applies to most shares acquired before the IPO. In general, there should be no restriction on your IPO shares. That said, some brokerages politely request that retail customers hold them a minimum period (IPO shares at Fidelity are 2 weeks). The underwriters aren't obligated to give the brokers any shares for retail customers, so the brokers often have a policy similar to "if you sell within 2 weeks, we will ban you from participating in future IPOs" in order to dissuade their customers from being the source of downward pressure in the initial trading days.

If you just opened a MS account for DSP and have no interest of keeping it, there really wouldn't be any consequences.

Even further off topic... can we get some more snow.. please. I hiked up to Silcox last week and there was lots of snow in places but lots of rocks. I was shocked by people hiking up there to ski/snowboard... shark attack waiting to happen.

Here. Is the entire service history on my 2018 Tesla Model 3:
(mileage now at 43,000… my bumper to bumper just expired due to 40k miles but the 8 year 120,000 mile battery warranty remains)

2 months after taking delivery the frunk latch failed. $0 repair warranty at Tesla Service Center and free Model S loaner. Been fine since.

4 new tires at 30,000 miles. Replaced cabin air filters at same time.

3 months ago L,R Front Control arms replaced under warranty for clunk noise (known issue).

12v car battery failed… replaced under warranty even though this is the usual amount of time for a typical car battery to die.

That’s it. No oil. No filter. No transmission service. No maintenance other than the above. My brake pads look about 50% done. Regen braking is awesome for brake life.

There is a 180-day lockup for the big money participating in the IPO per the roadshow docs. For example, Amazon is likely investing another $200m, and they can't sell those for 6 months (though I imagine they won't ever sell).

Random question - How many Amazon delivery vans are there currently in just the US?
