Thank you. The first thing I noticed was how loud the drivetrain is, not in a good way. It sounds like a golf cart going downhill past it's limiter.
Good way to put it.

I love the prototype. Competition is a good thing for all of us. Interested in the Scout, a low mileage used Rivian, or the next gen Wrangler come 2027.

The CEO is a bit insanely annoying... They need to stop letting him speak in public. He redefines the self-congratulatory, cringe-worthy communication style.
He also referred to charging speed as 'Kwh' multiple times. This is my probably too harsh litmus test for how serious an executive is about electrics.

Yeah, that marketing could backfire on them once people find out all they meant was you can change your own tires and accessories and partially maintain your gas extender engine. By the time these are for sale I will be surprised if they are still leaning into that idea...
Ah the good old days of oil changes. There's nothing like that hot used oil running down your hand when you remove the drain plug.

Just watched this. I agree the CEO is a bit annoying but a typical sales guy.
......
5) People clamoring about the price, the starting price will likely be a base model with smaller battery, without harvester, standard suspension etc. They also have the backing of VW supply chain so will likely have more success at cost scaling.
By typical sales guy, you mean used car sales guy :)

Yeah the sub-$50K "starting price" is a pipedream, wont happen.

I think Rivian should release a basic R1S as a bridge gap before R2. Basic suspension, LFP battery, lower cost door panels and headliner (like the dune edition), Even offer a single motor , get a starting price around $60-70K i think you open access to a whole new set of buyers and move volume, which is many ways is more important than higher margin.

The J70 Wrangler is 2028 and Stellantis has the opposite of Midas touch, they make junk now. A used Rivian even right now is a great deal.

Yes! It sounds exactly like my Polaris Ranger EV.

You can't really judge the final product based on an early prototype. I think it was a bad move for them to video a prototype like this because that nuance is going to be lost on those that watch snippets of video.

Seems likely due to payload being compromised by the additional weight of the Harvester and gas tank. But yeah, really limits the crowd looking to tow a camper with most between 3500-8000lbs which is seemingly the crowd they're trying to capture??

According to his comments, the Harvester can maintain a "steady state" of charge when driving around 70mph. so assuming 2.2m/kWh the harvester can output around 150kW of power, which is pretty decent.

It's nice that he's excited, but he's giving me vibes like I just walked onto a Nissan car lot ?
If that 70 mph is without a trailer, then a lot of people are going to have issues draining the battery and hitting reduced power mode if they're towing a trailer or driving faster. Our bmw i3 rex engine can keep up at about 70, but on the interstate by my house the speed limit is 75 and 80.

Man, what a tough crowd. We’ve definitely been spoiled by RJ.

Watching that, I kept feeling like the CEO was covering things up. Like any time Jay asked for a spec, he chose the model that gave the best result.
be bad, but I'm saying that CEO is playing fast and loose trying to make things look good.
Scout is two years out from production. There are a lot of technical matters that haven’t been fully determined yet. There is also competitive information he likely doesn’t want to divulge yet.

4) his laugh is the worst and I think it’s his hairdo that gives off Nissan salesman vibes lol
I was thinking more Joe Isuzu….

I wouldn’t touch anything EV related from Stellantis. The Wrangler S and the Charger seem to be pretty bad from all the reviews I’ve seen. I would have been excited for a Wrangler EV but right now Jeep quality has gotten so bad that they are persona non grata for me. That previous Stellantis CEO was a disaster for them IMO.

Did I hear that the range extended versions will only tow 5k lbs? Towing similar to a Ford Explorer isn’t very heavy duty as they are billing these as. So you can tow long range, just not very much.

Also you’re right about this CEO. He’s going to need a rotator cuff surgery from wearing the joint out patting himself on the back. Did anyone notice the annoying whine sound while driving? Hopefully they don’t have that in the production models.

Lastly I don’t get the Luddite badge of honor so many people have when it comes to EVs. “I have real buttons” type stuff. Who cares? The touchscreen is pretty intuitive and these people act like we don’t all have smartphones with touchscreens and have had them for years now. Going backwards isn’t an accomplishment or a badge of honor.
My Equinox EV has wiper controls on the turn indicator stalk, and HVAC has a couple of dials. The steering wheel has the cruise control. It’s my 5th EV, and I like those features. The idea of having to look at your screen to change wiper speed, as I did on my Tesla, is ridiculous.

The other thing I saw somewhere is that the Scout is 7" longer than the R1S but still only seats 5, making it more Tahoe-like in size and function.

I agree Stellantis leadership is doing a shockingly poor job right now. I love my JL though, purchased before they became 70k vehicles. Hoping mid 2027 we see the unveiled next generation and will decide next steps at that time.

I agree. I love my JL (pre price hikes), but leadership is a disaster. Hoping in a few years the next gen drivetrain looks more promising than it does right now.
