I haven’t seen this setup before so sharing here in case someone else is considering the same setup.

FWIW. Fits perfectly on rails and has no overhang. Sleeps 2 really comfortably , maybe 2 plus dog/child.

Got it for 2k. Deals are out there!

Thanks for the post. What Thule handwear did you use to mount to Rivian factory rails?

On my RTT (the AirCruiser), you can just stick an AC duct into the main opening and pull the tent's zipper around it. I put my Wave 2 on a gear tunnel door, power it from the outlet in the gear tunnel, and route the AC duct up to the tent from there.

I remember seeing that the Roofnest Condor 2 has built-in HVAC ducts, if that's what you're looking for.
How do you like the air cruiser? Is the inflate/deflate worth it over “mechanical” RTTs?

I haven't used "mechanical" RTTs so I don't have a comparison. I like the set-and-forget self-inflating though; I can go setup the rest of my campsite while it's inflating. In the back of my mind, I do worry about the inflating mechanism breaking at some point, but I haven't had a problem yet.

Don't worry about that, the AC has been tested and tested. The Air Frame is super strong and if you ever did have a problem, it's very easy top repair of replace but I'm certain you won't :)

One big advantage that isn't immediately obvious is that once you plug the AC in to inflate is there is nothing else to do, no canopies to set up or anything, it's all done for you :) Most mechanical RTT's will require some sort of rainfly/canopy set up.

I recently got a Thule Approach L and set it up on my R1S. It (just) fits alongside a Yakima Roadshower (10 Gallon size). So far, I've just messed around with it in my driveway, but I'm planning to test it out on a short trip soon. If there's interest, I'll share more pictures later.

Grey, and yes still like it! I ended up getting a different mattress solution but each to their own.

Gotcha! Rack Attack has it on sale for just under $1900 in grey but their photos look more beige gray than yours. Always wanted to get a RTT to get into some camping with the family but have always felt more draw to hard tops but the Approach seems really well reviewed so glad to hear it's not just marketing.

With it on the bed rails, would you think the Thule awning would be any use or would it be too low to sit under comfortably? How hard would it be to unlock the rails and move it to the roof once at a campsite?

Awning over bed rails is too low. It’s gotta go on the roof
