Figured you guys could have a laugh at my expense (which is fine, because it all worked out - so laugh away). But I ran out of battery for the first time today (and I've only had my Rivian for like 2 months).

Not that I suggest it, and your mileage may vary (pun intended), but I got about 6 miles after the point I hit 0 miles. I got about 500 yards from my house when the car totally disabled and made me pull over. Luckily I was in front of my neighbor's house (only two houses on the entire several mile road), so I was able to just run an extension cord to their 110v outlet and charge it up! Not only does it take forever to charge with 110v normally, but it was like 20 degrees out, and with it being completely dead dead, it did take like 4-5 hours for me to even get 1 mile of charge to drive it home.

I got about a mile into “0” and didn’t die, so kudos to you for living life to the fullest!

Oy - so close and yet so far...The closest we've come (and it was after 15 months of owning our R1S) was when the Nav said we'd have 4 miles of range when we got to the charger. My wife, who got twitchy in our ICE vehicles if the tank reach 1/4 full, did surprisingly well. I was in conserve mode (we have a quad) and did 5-10 mph under the speed limit and we slowly watched the range creep up. We had 16 miles of range when we reached the charger - about 30 miles from our home.

Did you change your driving style/settings when you realized you might not make it? Speed, for us, seems to be the most obvious. I swear I'd probably get 400 miles on a full charge if I never went over 30 MPH...

Once I hit 0 miles I started driving like 20mph which is probably why I got an additional 6 or so miles. But no, I also didn't put it into conserve mode or anything (there were kinda extenuating circumstances that led to this and I wasn't exactly thinking straight).

to give some context to your mileage may vary, mine went into turtle mode and wouldn't go over 7mph with 8 miles of range remaining, its very strange that some will go past 0 and some will not make it to zero, never again will I get below like 20miles of range to avoid potentially going into turtle mode, when it happened I was less than .5 miles from the charger but that meant exiting the highway navigating 2 stop lights, crossing traffic in heavy traffic with a truck that "wont' go" essentially it accelerated like an ice vehicle idling in drive

Oh no kidding, I was in turtle mode for a while. I'm not sure how long, but I don't remember it being before 0 or 1 although it could have been. I drove about 10 - 20 mph at the point I hit 0, which was a self imposed limit by me but I'm not sure if the car would have actually gone any faster if I wanted it to.

the road I exited on was a slight incline, it wouldn't go over 7mph, it would not hold speed on the highway either so on the highway it slowed to about 35mph, but every mph it lost it would not regain, I rolled through the stop light not knowing if it would actually not accelerate (if I came to a complete stop) it gave a warning to pull over immediately and park, I'm like YOUBETTERNOT

Haha no, but that would also qualify. I broke my arm playing soccer and wanted to get home ASAP because my arm was visibly broken.
Oh, man, you just brought back a traumatic childhood injury...broke my arm playing "kill the man with the football". Looked like a saddle (broke both radius & ulna). I think I was in 4th grade.

But...why didn't you go to the ER? Or was home closer?

The main reason I didn't go to an ER was just bc it was late and I didn't want to sit in an ER just to be told to go to an ortho the next day. So I went to a walk in ortho this morning. Figured I would be in a little pain but wouldn't really do any additional damage if I just went home and went to bed.

Wow, I can understand why you were strongly motivated to get home. That broken arm had to make this situation so much worse. Hope it all heals well and you'll be gtg in no time.
