When will we be able to switch All Purpose mode to RWD

I’m not an expert, but it seems s like it would be a good thing to set my All Purpose mode to RWD, instead of FWD.

I would like to be able to set All Purpose mode to RWD to spread wear and tear across motors, spread tire wear.

And have Rivian keep track of miles FWD and RWD.

I’m not sure how regeneration braking works but it looks like (by illustration) it only uses the front motor when in FWD. seems like I would get more energy if both motors were using regeneration braking.

maybe this feature is coming, but I would like to switch between FWD and RWD.

I think they default to FWD because the motors are geared differently and the front gearing is better for efficiency.

The rear isn't used for regen as it is decoupled totally when in conserve/FWD (on a quod).

I'd love to have a totally RWD option like on my Plaid but likely will never happen.

Would love a burnout mode as well.
Still waiting on launch mode for Gen 1. If you take off the traction control it will definitely smoke the tires.

Not possible in a Rivian. They use permanent magnet motors, which require being physically disconnected in order to free-wheel, and Rivians only have a disconnect on the rear motors.

On-screen SMS alerts/integration. I don't need carplay, but it kills me that I miss all of my text messages when I'm driving.
It's also super annoying that my "high tech" $100k electric SUV doesn't have the same basic connectivity that my 17 year old daughter enjoys in Grammy's, old, hand-me-down Hyundai Santa Fe.

The only way I can have partial front or partial rear in the tri motor is to play with the different modes.
Conserve - rear disconnect, front only
Standard- AWD but more towards the front
Sport - AWD but mainly rear
Winter - AWD but mainly front again less stability more tire spin

Off road mode give you all the stability off and tire spins etc if any has that and wants to try. I didn't cuz Winter is over and I would have done it more in the winter to not ruin the stupid expensive pirelli scorpions cuz.... I'm car broke now

lol...I came in here fully expecting to see a "CarPlay" response. Am shocked "Talk to text" popped in first.
I was expecting people to say "you can say Siri or Alexa now" (said in a sarcastic voice). Well, I want to be able to see the message count popup on my driver screen, I want to be able to push a button to listen to the message and respond.

There's a couple of things in this statement that deserve attention. First, it takes a certain amount of energy to bring a Rivian to a stop (regardless of whether that be via regen or friction brakes). Using both front and rear motors in equal proportion would not allow you to recapture any more energy (ignoring details regarding the different efficiencies of the front and rear motors). Second, you really don't want to shift the braking bias toward the rear wheels. Even with friction brakes on ICE vehicles, the work performed by the brakes is biased toward the front wheels. This is because the vehicle's weight transfers to the front under decel which basically help improve the tires grip on the road. Similarly, the rear tires are unloaded which is not beneficial to applying braking force through the rear tires. There are other issues such as vehicle stability when braking that also benfit from a front brake bias. So, while I do observe some small contribution to regen from the rear wheels on my Gen1 quad, the braking force is intentionally biased to the front.

As for the subject of tire wear, just let All Purpose do its thing and rotate your tires regularly. Assuming a proper alignment, you'll be just fine.
