Installed the new Scorpion XTM AT today at Discount Tire. On the drive home I got the low tire pressure alert and figured it was due to the system being set at 48 psi. The OEM scorpions had a max psi rating of 51, but these new XTMs are 44.

Anyone have any luck changing the set point for the TPMS? Combed through the owners manual, forums, Reddit, google. Called the Rivian Service line and the guy said there isn’t currently a way to do it. Anyone hear differently? I know the customer service guys sometimes have different answers from each other. I recommended trying to make that a future software update.

44 psi sounds like the load rating is too low for the Rivian...

I also noticed a discrepancy. Discount tire site says max psi of 36 but the print on the tire shows 44

Warning threshold is not user adjustable. And because of liability, I doubt Rivian would ever allow it to be; without users acknowledging that they assume full responsibility over non-factory equipment/modification. Adjustment would be done through vehicle software. TPMS sensors are just measuring devices.

May not be true. Thought I read somewhere last month that the intent of Pirelli making these was to replace the AT plus. I’ve reread everything I can find on the XTMs over the last 24hrs and can’t find that mentioned anywhere.

It isn’t. People jumped to conclusions without seeing specs. Pirelli’s own product page has specs missing. LT version would have been better choice, regarding psi, since most LTs are 80 max. But Pirelli has not disclosed that detail or tire weight. This is similar to how the Nitto Recon Grappler got hyped until others dug deeper into specs. That long thread still exists with misleading title. Newcomers wouldn’t know it’s not an ideal tire unless they read a few pages.

Yeah the more I’m researching the more I think I jumped the gun on these. Pirelli has a 60 day or first 2/32 policy I might take advantage of.

I think the right answer is if someone wants to use the Pirelli XTM AT tire they need to wait for the LT version so it can hold higher tire pressure Rivian has on the door jamb. Keep in mind the lower speed rating.

I went ahead and lowered mine down on my SL Pirelli XTM AT for now and plan to change to tires that can hold 51 - 60 psi.

Pirelli XTM AT LT 275 65 20

I’m having the same issue just installed them today and selected all options to try and clear the alert and nothing works tires are inflated to 44 the max tire I put in a ticket and waiting on Rivian to call me back he did say we might have to wait for a tire update

Only way to avoid it is to overfill the tires, which is not something I would do. Those who hyped this tire's availability jumped the gun. Just like that Nitto Recon thread.

Hey folks with the SL tire. Are you still running it at 44psi with the tire pressure warning?
I'm considering this SL tire (not the LT one) and was wondering if dealing with that alert it worth it or not for the tire?
