Maybe the new camp speaker that they replaced the original one with was not charged when they put it in the dock. I'll charge it up and give the dock another try.

It's too bad they did away with the option to see the speaker condition on-screen in the truck. Maybe they realized too many people would realize it doesn't charge and request service.

The UI for the speaker is very substandard along with Rivian Nav.

Thanks

I did make this cheat-sheet for myself, I printed it and keep a copy in the truck. I found the instructions in the user guide a little confusing, maybe some folks on this thread will find it useful.

UPDATE -- Spoke with Rivian customer support and was informed that the dock only maintains the charge level, it does not actually charge the camp speaker. I was told to use a wall charger and then put the camp speaker back. If it goes dead, then I should call to have the dock inspected by service.

This seems a bit odd to me, does anyone have any insight into this?
We have never used the speaker in used 2023 r1t and speaker started making sound in Dec 2024 (had no idea it was the speaker making this sound until April 2025). Had no idea what it was, then sound disappeared. Couple months later sound reappeared and wouldn’t stop while driving. Contacted support and submitted ticket, and local service center said it was camp speaker. Tried resetting, charging, etc. and the speaker will start making the recurring 20 second sound in a few weeks.
The service center says it’s a non-repairable item, so the service center may replace.

So, the camp speaker will charge in the dock, mine used to (Gen 1 R1T) and took it to get serviced just recently, they said the speaker was good, and the car connector was also good, the problem they said was the Camp speaker tends to go into a deep sleep mode, and stops accepting a charge from the vehicle (while the vehicle is in use), the way around this issue is to dock it for a couple seconds, pull it out and repeat a couple times and re dock. This gets it out of that state a d it will then start to accept a charge from the dock.

They said until Rivian comes out with a proper workaround, it's really the only way to get it to work.

Since that trick/day, I haven't had an issue.

I pulled my speaker out and connected it to a 45W usb-c charger for 24+ hours. I unplugged it so I could use the charger on my laptop and the speaker is "dead." It worked fine while plugged in and I assumed it would charge up; however, it did not. Once I plugged it into the charger it came back to life. Does the warranty cover the speaker itself?

Hahahaha! Ok, not worth replacing then. I'll plug it in down in the basement. 🙃
Try what I mentioned in an earlier post, it worked for me.

According to Rivian telephone service, pressing the circle button (power), the “minus” button (volume down), and the play/pause button for 7 seconds will perform a factory reset of the speaker. Any pairings to the speaker will be gone.
