As a Goodyear engineer who helped design the Territory AT for Rivian, I’ll admit I’m a bit biased—but I’m genuinely thrilled with how they look on my R1T and proud of the overall performance of these tires.
Please convince Goodyear to make them in a 275/65 R20 size please!!! They'd definitely be contenders for me, but I don't want to be questioning my speedometer. Right now I'm still expecting to buy the Toyo SL's before winter gets here (I've got a little over 30K on my original Pirelli's and they still, somehow, look great).

You lost me with that. We can change software now, without SC visit, so speedometer and range calculations are not thrown off by tire size.

Thank you - I'd completely forgotten that we can now do that! Maybe I'll reconsider the Goodyear tires when it's time.

IIRC, the new Goodyear is actually an option to select for the 20" wheels, so not only would your speedometer be correct if you select it but your range estimates ought to be more accurate too. I went with the Nokian Outpost nAT and had to select aftermarket tires, so it's just using the same range/efficiency estimates as the stock Pirelli ATs...yet to be seen if I'm actually getting similar efficiency or not.

I thought it was the diameter of the tire that determined the speedometer accuracy, not the wheel size. The OEM Pirelli's are the same 34.1" diameter as the Toyo ATIII EV's. The Goodyear Territory AT's in 275/60 R20 are only 32.99" in diameter - That's just over an inch difference. I hope I'm doing the math correctly, but that's basically 3.49" difference per rotation.
  • Pirelli's and Toyo's in 275/65 R20 - 63,360 inches per mile divided by 34.1*pi = 5,837 rotations per mile
  • Goodyear in 275/60 R20 - 63,360 inches per mile divided by 32.99*pi = 6,034 rotations/mile
There's no way the speedometer can be correct. I'm away from my R1S (and I couldn't find in the online owner's manual how to change the tire size) so i can't confirm that the software allows you to change tire size (i.e. 275/65 R20 to 275/60 R20) or just wheel size.

AFAIK it does not. I just changed from the 22s to an aftermarket set of 20s running the AT3s LT275/60R20s, updated using the Rivian tool to 20s and the aftermarket off-road tires option and the speedo is off like 3.5mph at 70mph, maybe I'll try other tire types and see if that makes a difference. The stock 22s were like 1.5mph off at 70.

Hi all, I updated the software of my Gen 1 R1T from the stock 275/65R20 to the Goodyear 275/60R20 and my speedometer is within 1 mph at 70 mph compared to Waze GPS.

Overall diameter of tire is what matters for instrument readings. Circumference can be derived from tire’s outer diameter. It is also distance travelled per full revolution. Distance travelled per hour is… miles per hour.

It’s in the service menu and you can change from 275/65r20 to 275/60r20 and the speedometer is correct. And anyone else if your going down to 275/60r20 I would select the 20inch wheel with Goodyears even if you get different AT tires because your speedometer will still be correct instead of selecting aftermarket tires.

Fantastic info, I will go try this, because the speedo is off like 3.5mph right now

2025.06 OTA... 3 OTAs ago.

Obviously I did that, but I selected aftermarket off-road tire, and the speedo is even more off than before, I will try selecting the Goodyears and see if its better.

You selected the correct size aftermarket? If so, it shouldn't be off worse. Speed and distance traveled is simple math derived from circumference of the tire, which can be calculated from the tire's overall diameter or radius. It may require some time to build up enough data to be be "accurate".

I feel like I’m missing something, I only see the 2 options or generic options, there isn’t anywhere I can select a custom size?
