What are your thoughts on a 10 yr or 11 yr / 100,000 miles - 150,000 miles bumper to bumper extended warranty by Fidelity Warranty Services

I just had more work done on my suspension all covered under the warranty to resolve my tick/tock, clunk and ting noises from the suspension.

It finally rides nice and quiet over potholes, speed bumps, manhole covers and when making low speed maneuvers.

This is the 2nd time I got 2 new front dampeners for my vehicle under warranty. I believe they have upgraded the parts and also replaced additional parts to help with the front-end clunk noise.

I have had in this most recent trip the following parts replaced which took around 8 hours of labor.

Right and Left Halfshafts

Right and Left Hubs

Front Dampeners both sides

Jounce lines on both sides.

I would imagine the cost of all this is between $6000 - $8000 without a warranty.

No way I want to pay for that once my stock warranty expires.

I was looking at both Fidelity and XCare plans to make sure It's feasible for me to own a Rivian outside of warranty and to keep it 10+ years.

I ended up with 10 years / 100,000 miles with Fidelity based on the reviews I have seen online from forums from different vehicle manufacturers.

I purchased my warranty the same year I got my Quad motor in 2023 with less than 10,000 miles and before the prices have been adjusted for the new calendar year. I think I bought the warranty in December 2023 and took delivery of my vehicle in June 2023.

So I paid what I listed in my original post screenshot which is $3,836 after $200 Rivian discount code. I went ahead and decided to buy it since the cost was under $4,000 and I want to keep the car for 100,000 miles and 10+ years.

Here is the warranty work where they noticed a leak during a courtesy inspection by Rivian from the inner boot on the right rear half-shaft.

Btw, the cost seems very reasonable. One blown damper to replace and you’ve made your money back

Depends on the dealership. Some dealerships will work directly with Fidelity and bill them.

With Rivian, its similar to how I did my insurance claim for my windshield with Allstate. You will first get approval for the repair, then pay for the repair and submit a reimbursement claim.

I asked Rivian if they would take payment directly from Fidelity and they told me right now they're not setup for something like that. Payment happens from the app and the card we have loaded on file.

Don’t forget the deductibles. They’re an insurance company. They make good margins on these policies. Depends how much you can afford out of pocket expenses vs insuring against them.

Having said that. This is the one vehicle I might consider getting the factory extended warranty (Rivian Care) at the end of the original Rivian warranty. Love my R1T. It is a great vehicle but has had several in-warranty trips and out of service for probably 20+ days on a 2023.

Ah, hadn’t really looked into it. As of 8/19/25 Rivian's site says, "Rivian Care is in its pilot phase, and currently being offered to a select group of owners in Texas."
Very limited indeed.

Reach out to the dealer who sold you the warranty and see if they can help advocate for you.

Steingold Volvo is who I purchased my contract with and they explained to me I would have to get prior authorization which I assume is by sharing the diagnostics / estimate print outs I get from Rivian to get authorization for repairs from Fidelity.

I've been told that Fidelity is no longer writing new warranty policies for Rivian.

I would recommend researching XCARE and if you decide to go that route, use a coupon code to save $100 or $200 if you select the one-time payment plan option.

I went a different route for extended warrenty.

I figure I’ll take a gamble, stock fell below $15 this week, took 10k and picked some up @ 14.30. If it gets to $30 in the next few years I have 20k for R1 or R2 repairs if needed. If no major repairs still would have 20k. If I spend the money on an extended warrenty it’s gone.

That is just my plan not suggesting others follow, as I said it is a gamble, just thought I’d share.

I am thinking of purchasing an extended warranty plan and Fidelity warranty services comes highly recommended by the Porsche owners forum Rennlist.

What are your thoughts on purchasing a bumper to bumper extended warranty plan for the Rivian.

I can see the warranty would include the battery and drive motors / inverter. We can go as high as 11 years total coverage and 150,000 miles.

I am most interested in a 10 year / 100,000 mile Platinum warranty with $250 deductible for $3,836 OTD.

All plans begin on the PLAN PURCHASE DATE and the CURRENT ODOMETER READING. In clearer terms, the years shown will begin TODAY and the mileage shown will be ADDED to the current odometer reading.

Looks like Steingold is only offering plans from Veritas and Zurich when I check. I'm at 49K miles for 2023 Quad. I have not seen anyone discussing veritas or Zurich plans so I'm leery about those.
