I hope it's not discontinued, such a cool color. When you charge 1K+ more for the cool colors vs the base model greys you are naturally going to get fewer orders from price conscious customers.
Put some bold colors on base models and maybe we'll see more uptake!

Remember folks, we're enthusiasts...aka not a great representation of the larger target market. We want the quad, the tank turn, the bright colors.

But most people sadly *want* bland colors so as to fit in with the masses (and for future resale to others in the masses).

For the rest of us, it's a slow death of personality directly from the manufacturer. But thankfully, vinyl wraps are a thing.

If Riviantrackr reports it, it's pretty much 100% confirmed—since he's consistently shown to have the inside scoop (and install/review OTA updates before anyone else). This doesn't mean Rivian won't be adding new colors in the future.

Supply and demand. I'd rather see them run an efficient/profitable operation—and be better positioned to increase service capacity—than "oh, look, pretty bright colors!" If R2 volume is as high as projected, they would be screwing themselves royally if they don't increase service capacity.

I've kinda accepted that with other manufacturers, but was hoping Rivian with their adventure and fun first mentality would keep adding fun colors rather than removing them. Maybe we'll see a different shade of red appear in the future, but this was a bummer to see for what we currently have available.

Fun? No fun to be had if they can't be a sustainable business. Beyond the branding and marketing, it's still a business.

Love to see a special edition in orange.....
A dark orange or a more dense red would be welcomed for sure! Hopefully we see new interior options too.

Would make me upgrade to a Gen 2 super quick! I can think of several manufacturers that have done this - e.g. Dodge TRX Ignition edition; Acura RDX PMC edition; Mazda Miata 40th anniversary, etc. Needs to be a color more exciting than on the Cali Dune edition!

I also think nothing wrong with the brand standing out even more. The chart sure suggests that orange or yellow hold their values better.

And yet Rivian has used Red Canyon extensively in marketing emails. Here are photos from 3 different emails Rivian sent out in May.

If wait time for delivery was inversely proportional to color popularity, I can certainly believe Red Canyon was not popular in 2023.

I don't get too worked up about vehicle paint colors, but I don't regret selecting Red Canyon for my R1S.

Yup, currently on their website still (and looking good as ever). Great color to market, just shame it didn't sell as well. For a brand with such nice color offerings, I can't believe more people are going with the more generic choices. But those sell, so I get it, business decision. Just mourning its loss over here.
