I have a 2023 Rivian R1S currently running the stock Pirelli Scorpion AT 275/65R20s.

I’m in Texas, so it’s hot most of the year, but we do get some heavy rain at times. Most of my driving is local with occasional highway trips — around 10K miles annually. I’m not doing serious off-roading, but I do like the rugged look and want solid all-weather performance, especially with braking in the rain.

Looking at a few options:
  • Pirelli Scorpion XTM AT – 275/65R20 116T ELECT ($1,837 installed)
  • Toyo Open Country A/T III – LT275/65R20 E/10PLY
  • BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO3 – LT275/65R20 126S E1

The XTM ATs look great, but there aren’t many reviews yet. I’ve seen mixed opinions on load ratings and road comfort. Anyone running any of these on their R1S? Open to other suggestions too.

Appreciate any real-world feedback!

If the above except is your criteria, then none the options you've honed in on are right.

The max pressure for the SL XTM AT is onlly 36 psi. Since vehicle software doesn't let us adjust minimum pressure threshold, you will have to either overfill the tires or live with the under-pressure nanny warning. The other two are LT E-load tires. More weight and durability than you need for "I'm not doing serious off-roading".

Instead, turn your attention to:
  1. SL version of Toyo OC3 AT EV in 275/65R20
  2. Or, downsize to 275/60R20, Goodyear Territory AT RIV. AT looks. More efficient. $270 each from TireRack. And, being an OEM tire, Rivian made a software profile specifically for it. It's also 3PMSF rated.
  3. Or, XL version of Toyo OC3 AT EV in 275/60R20. Likely more efficient than the larger 275/65. But since it's a tire Rivian never tested or made a software profile for... you won't know how accurate the instrument readings and estimates are.

Actually I linked the wrong one. I was looking at the LT XTM. Would this fit? We want the larger tire and range drop isn't a big factor.

My name is Mike, and I have a (car) problem
You'll get significantly better performance from an all-season like the Michelin LTX AT2 than an all-terrain, with respect to rain and highway use. They won't look as cool, but they'll perform.

For ATs, I would take the KO3s every day and twice on Sundays. They are excellent tires that took an excellent tire (the KO2) and made it more excellent. Have run these on all my off-road rigs.

Why run a heavier tire with more material and higher load rating when you drive mostly on pavement and don’t do serious off-roading?
Your right. So what would be the same larger size tire I have now and look just as rugged?

Also having another little issue. My app and car is showing 21" wheels but tires are 20". Maybe original owner swapped out? Do I need to do anything?

Don't care about performance as much. I like the AT rugged look. Not a fan of the ltx at smooth look

What specific ko3. The lt version?

Btw see my other post. Showing 21" in the app/main screen but I thought I have 20" rims.ay original owner installed?

I provided recommendations already. And the smaller 275/60 size has virtually the same diameter as the 275/55R21 your R1 originally had. And only 1.2” smaller than 275/65R20. Visually not that noticeable. https://tiresize.com/comparison/

And if your R1 is up-to-date on vehicle software you should be able to go into vehicle settings to change your wheel and tire configuration. This feature was introduced with 2025.06 in March.

LT tires for your purposes are just added excessive weight for no reason. Add 20-30 additional pounds of unsprung weight per corner and you'll notice a range drop for sure. I'd recommend wild peaks or another highly rated all terrain non light truck tire.

If all you're going for is looks, then honestly just pick the one that looks best to you.

You can recode the wheels in the interface now, but only to OEM options.

Is this the Toyo you recommended? I like the look of them.

Toyo Open Country A/T III EV 275/65R20 https://share.google/8b8yES1O0dH0vpKPi

Also why would my app/screen show 21" road yet I have 20"? Does it hurt anything not having it set correct.

For instance in reverse if I had 21" rims yet set to 20 would it rub the wheel well?

Not sure why it's showing 21" yet have 20"
Is the link I replied to you with the ko3s you were recommending?

Yes those or the smaller Goodyear, which would serve you just fine. Lots of past threads and discussion on them. Use forum search. Forum member and Goodyear engineer @B Digs had a hand in developing them.

Your car probably left the factory with 21s.
