Have you ever gone to the doctor? I hate to tell you, but the doctor has all your records digitized and available to be hacked. Acting like Rivian is in some unique position to compromise your sensitive information is either ignorant of how vulnerable you are or intentionally disingenuous. It's not just about selling your data although that's definitely a major concern; it's also about WHEN (not IF) they get hacked with your data.
So, glad Rivian is participating in DEF CON for WHEN they get hacked with YOUR data because they WILL BE HACKED and lose your data.
You have been shown where to opt out, and have been shown where Rivian allows you to disconnect your vehicle completely by disabling the SIM card. Here's a question for you; since you're so concerned with your data being leaked when was your appointment to have your SIM disabled? Considering you are on here making comment after comment about how your 2014 explorer is better because of the data privacy, when did you take up Rivian's offer to turn your car into the same level of connectivitiy as your shitbox Ford?Having to sign a purchase agreement that does NOT allow you to opt out is NOT *commendable* when it could just as easily allow it.
Again, shame on the politicians who do not champion consumer protection laws.
Then again, as long as the manufacturers and their lobbyists are in their pockets, consumer protection is a pipe dream.
My theory is you're here just to piss and moan and don't actually want to fix your problem. Rivian affords you the opportunity to completely disconnect your vehicle from the internet, safeguarding your data entirely. I'm willing to bet you didn't do this, and instead just want to whine about it.
