OMG, so excited to see more. But now my questions are getting out of control.

What's this recess/button I circled red? Is that to drop the tailgate when the glass is up? Does that mean the latch for it isn't on the exterior?

Are these the read air vents circled in blue? Hadn't seen that before, it's an interesting placement for them I think.

Circled in purple: nice looking armrests? To poke the bear, wondering if these pop open or flip up to reveal cupholders.

Finally, what's going on in the green circle? It's hard to tell for sure, but are these just lie down loops? They almost look like they're on a track, which would be interesting. Would *really* love if these were the originally teased cargo crossbar mounts. Having crossbar mounts back here on an adjustable track would be amazing. Strange that this area seems to be inset lower than the main floor area though.

Here's my guess on the above items:

Red circle - Release for the lower hatch. It is manual and not power. Upper hatch most likely has exterior release button and is power

Blue - looks like 3rd row air vents to me as well.

Green Circle - Cargo tie downs. Look like similar design as on R1T rail system anchor points.

What looks to be missing is metal threshold Logo trim piece (bean counters strike again). Also would be good to see position of fold down release buttons for 2nd and 3rd row from the hatch area.

Rivian REALLY does owe us more details on the R1S now that "deliveries" have started! :)

The second image seems to confirm their choice to prioritize rear cargo vs 3rd row legroom. Matches up with their 3d animation on the site.

This seems odd to me considering those that won't use the 3rd row can always have it down for additional cargo space and those that will use the 3rd row need it to actually be comfortable.

A bit disappointing and may ultimately be the reason we can't go with the R1S if 3rd row is cramped or hard to access with car seats in the 2nd row, but still excited to check one out and hopefully be proved wrong!

I believe that 2nd row can slide fore and aft to help with 3rd row leg room.

I know it's a little thing, but man, I REALLY liked that metal threshold. I'd have gladly sprung for the Chilewich flooring in that cargo space too, but I expected that to be axed. Somehow the threshold feels a bit more mean.

And yes, they do. Brb, gonna go knock on CS's door. Been haranguing them almost every day now. ?

Is it just me or does the R1S looks like it has better overall dimensions/proportions compared to the R1T?

About Time R1S get some love. That thing looks like a car camping heaven. I am dying to see the 5 seater to see where that extra space they are talking about is. Hope they are not leaving the third row arm rest without the third row. I definitely have to figure out where the sensors are so I can leave the tailgate open to carry plywood.

The load floor behind the front seats is much flatter than I was expecting. I thought the second row appeared to have more of an angle (3 degrees, IIRC) than what I’m seeing. Maybe it will prove different in real life, but that looks like a flat and level load floor from the rear of the first row seats to the tailgate. If it is flat and level throughout then I’m really happy they were able to make that happen.

I think that is a great opportunity for an accessory to customize the R1S. If Rivian doesn’t make one then I bet someone else will.

Do we know if R1S will have a compressor?
Yes. For all 3 trims. Unless the Rivian website has it totally wrong.

You think your kids will still be in carseats when you get the R1S?

Lol

I doubt it's prioritizing rear space over 3rd row leg room. The location of the third row is almost certainly dictated by the frame design and rear axle location. If the third row is moved too far back, their would be no foot well due to the rear axle "hump". Otherwise, the third row passengers would be sitting in a squat position with their knees in their face.

In this picture, the 3rd row is almost certainly positioned over top the reat axle. with your feet on the battery pack. That's how it's done in the Suburban - I owned two in previous years.

Why are you calling CS almost every day? You will get the delivery email when you get it and as has been mentioned by others CS is often wrong. Basic information like operation of the second row and space of the third row should be shared directly by Rivian in their website.
