how is it that much slower? In the S-1 they expect to hit max production rate of 65k vehicles per year at the end of 2023. Assuming they hit the weekly equivalent of 65k per year the last week of 2023, the numbers are as expected. Probably a 25k/45k split between 2022/2023.

Thought they were aiming for 65K per year in 2023. if they were only aiming to reach that production level by the end of 2023 then may be on track.

"We expect to reach a vehicle production rate, which, when annualized, would result in us using 100% of the facility’s current installed capacity of up to 150,000 vehicles by late 2023."

Meaning the last week they'll hit the 1310 vehicles and claim victory. Lol

A few additional information voids that are top of mind (obviously there is a ton of other missing information):

1. No word on R1S interior walk-through and details like R1T had before launch.
2. No work on Max Pack R1S
3. Are Guides still a thing? They promised contact by Thanksgiving, then moved it to an email update not from a Guide without any direct recognition of the Guides.
Guides are coming "SooN" ???

My biggest surprise in RJ email was that only 20% of pre-orders were Max Pack. Was the additional $10K a deterrent? Majority thinks this is not a good value for extra capacity? ...or most just don't need the additional capacity?
$10k for 100 miles just made zero sense to me. For perspective my 9 year old Honda has just over 100k miles on it my 2 year old Subaru has 20k (granted it was bought just before the pandemic) but I work from home, and the wife teaches 2 miles away. 99.5% of our driving is within a 65 mile radius. the longest regular trip I'd make would be up to Mount Hood and back (<200 miles) and we don't tow anything.

This exactly.
RJ gave the team 2+ years to reach full capacity from the time of the statement. "when annualized" are the key words. Seem perfectly reasonable and in line with at least my expectations as a shareholder.

I see quite a few comments in this thread of 2021 orders that are dropping their max pack with the expectation they are going to get a large pack in 2022. So far, all Rivian has promised is to contact those max pack preorder holders from 2018 and 2019 to see how many of them would be interested in getting a large pack in 2022. Furthermore, just about all of the 2021 large pack orders are getting the generic Oct-Dec 2022 timeline. Call it optimism, but I'm beginning to consider it wishful thinking that will result in massive disappointment for quite a few of them. Don't know how many will do it, but for every 18-19 max pack order that elects to downgrade, that is likely one more 2020-21 large pack order that will shift from Oct-Dec 2022 to early 2023. I'm a Mar 2020 max pack order, and until they make a clear statement that I can get a large pack by the end of 2022, I'm not changing anything. I don't think that will happen at least until they get through the Jan "reaching out to 2018-19 max pack orders to downgrade". If they promise it, then I might consider bumping one of the 2021 order holders here out of their current "Oct-Dec 2022" window into 2023 :)
If someone changes their config and doesn't get a revised delivery date (or it isn't as soon as they wanted) they could just change the config back, no?

Yes, that's what I recall them saying. If I remember correctly, the only problem with making a change is if someone moves away from a Launch Edition, there's no going back.

Still no delivery estimate email(s) for me. Are these still in the process of being sent out? Who else is still waiting?

I thought most or all of those went out several hours after the “Update from RJ” email yesterday. Check your spam folder(s). The title is “Your Rivian R1T estimated delivery window”. Did you receive the first generic update from RJ email? If you don’t have it by the end of the day today, use the chat function on the support page at https://rivian.com/support to ask them for assistance.

If you have the Explore package OR the Max battery, you”re in 2023. If you have either of those options, it seems like it’s the first half of 2023 for old deposit or the last half of 2023 if you put a deposit down within the last year.

I am Concerned overall with the timing of deliveries. The way this is playing out it seems that Rivian will only be able to Produce 70,000 Vehicles over the next 2 years. That's a not surprising but much slower ramp than they had anticipated.
Keep in mind the capacity of the Normal plant also includes the van's they're producing for Amazon. They also told investors on their earnings call they expect to clear their 71k pre-orders by end of 2023, so the delivery windows make sense.

What I find interesting is configuration and location play a big part in delivery windows. Looking at the various Google sheets a few sites have collected, I see many R1T deliveries in late 2022 that were reservations after mine. This also hints at the timeframe for service centers to come online.

Yes on receiving the RJ update email and I’ve also checked my spam folder (and inbox) like every 30 minutes. lol

I have an order for R1T Adv Large, R1T Adv Max, and R1S Adv 7-seater so perhaps that’s why although I’ve seen at least one person with two orders get an email for each order.

Whoa, WHOA!! there buddy. What's with that negativity? How about cross that bridge IF you get there. You're anxiety won't change if you think doom and gloom from the get go.
Haha

Well, considering it's gone from "one of the first vehicles to be built" to "following shortly after LE production" and now to "only 20% of our reservations are for max pack, so we will reach out to people in January to see if they want to drop it, also we should start deliveries in '23."

I've been in this for 2.5 years now, I'm still committed to the vehicle, but it is getting frustrating watching the finish line getting no closer to me than it was when I originally ordered.
