Got the same email from Rivian - estimated delivery 1st half of 2023 for R1T adventure package. Not sure I can wait that long. Going to see when Ford says my Lightning reservation will be ready……

This is something I'm thinking about. Issue is, I really want the Max Pack, and adding Adventure bring it over 80k, probably missing the tax credit.

What would be really sad is if they end up raising the Explore price to where it goes over 80k (with Max Pack) by the time they deliver.

My gut feeling is they're a startup and have a massive valuation with plenty of cash so they will be willing to honor order pricing, even if they take a hit due to inflation etc. The way Tesla did it.
To not do so would mean a lot of backlash from crucial early adopters.

Some clarity/confirmation
from Rivian about this would be really nice.
The BBB bill hasn't passed yet so I doubt it will be instituted next year. If it does get passed next year, it would probably be written to apply to 2023+ purchases (i.e. be part of the 2023 taxes filed in 2024), so a truck purchased in 2022 would not be subject to any new caps.

Probably depends on your location (and somewhat on the options you pick).
40 miles North of Normal... Maybe I could get a job and Rivian and get an early Max Pack as an employee?

Probably not...

Well I can't say I didn't see this coming, but I can say I didn't think it would hurt this much.

I had multiple preorders because I knew this would happen.

Now I'm just pissed cause I could've had a LE R1T which would've been better for resale/trade come Max Pack time. Rivian stuck it in hard, but broke it off harder. Oh so smart I am, but not smart enough to have just "known" this would happened and just snatched up a LE. At least Lucid delivered the Uber models first... Rivian, you're letting down your most devout of preorders holders (Max Packers).

Looks like I'm gonna play the game of range roulette again for about 18 months and then dumped my (not so) large pack R1T considering tons of other people are going to be waiting for them (now that I'm sure of) and then I'll get a Max Pack when I've seen the bugs get flushed out and my second order placement is up.

Wonder what happens if you pass on your delivery window, will Rivian CS keep asking you if you want a EV or will they determine when you get one because you passed?

Wonder how that'll all work?

I received an email today with a timeframe window too. Did anyone else get one? I received the one from RJ and then this one at 11a CT. I had made updates a few minutes prior to add floor mats, so not sure if that kicked off the email or if it was purely coincidental?

My biggest surprise in RJ email was that only 20% of pre-orders were Max Pack. Was the additional $10K a deterrent? Majority thinks this is not a good value for extra capacity? ...or most just don't need the additional capacity?

I think, for US buyers, the price and specifically that it put the total over the EV credit threshold was the deterrent.

Cost wasn’t it for me. It was just that it was certain to add an extra 12 months to order. I was honestly hoping they would do max first as that would be my preference but oh well.

Typically the argument is, for the limited number of times that you'd need the max pack it isn't worth 10k.

For me, the added range buys nothing. The trip i make would require stops for charging with or without the max pack.

I had a Max pack Adventure configured and got the "First half 2023" message. I have since changed to Large pack, and am wondering what kind of impact that could have on the delivery date.

$10k is a lot for about 30% more range. By the time gen 2 or 3 comes out I’d expect an efficiency improvement. Assuming (big assumption) resale values hold, one could trade in the first gen R1T and get the newest upgrades and tech.

thanks, yeah I am hoping that with the move to the large pack, I can get a date earlier than 4th quarter 2022, understanding that any estimate I get for a date I am adding 6 months to.
