Hmm...this is VERY telling. Don't you have like 7 of these vehicles?? So, it's only 2/7ths worthwhile! You heard it here, folks! :D
Well, I've got three, but only two are up for renewal right now.

No. Sorry if my post was confusing. I meant to say I am a C+ subscriber and the Apple Music app drives me crazy but the subscription is still worth it to me.
If you turn on your phone hotspot and connect the truck wifi to it you can use all the apps except SiriusXM. I have unlimited so I have been doing that and it works perfectly.

Ah that’s right. I am paying for C+ but I forgot how it worked for those who decided not to. Glad it works that well for you!

If Rivian gave you the option to pay $440 for three years or $700 for five, would that make it more palatable? If your vehicle were totaled, after three months, you'd have lost all that money....

P.S. Yes, I plan to keep my truck for the foreseeable future...
For lease option that would make it simple. I don't/didn't lease my R1S so it would not have applied to my transaction but if such option existed, I would be reminded to renew every year.

If the vehicle gets totaled, there are much more significant things to deal with than losing prepayment on C+.

For any EV, technology changes so much each year that holding onto my 2023 R1S for more than 4~5 yrs would be like using an old laptop. It would work but slowly. And will not have new HW related features. Already just look at G2 vs G1 software enable features as the result of new HW.

All that said, I do understand your point. My views are just different.

Then all the vehicle internet traffic goes through your hotspot, which can add up over a month. Many unlimited plans actually throttle (slow) your data downloads after a certain amount, which really screws up the newly frequent map rerouting right before a critical turn! Ask me how I know. B)

When I’m in the Rocky Mountains, which is pretty much every week, having an ATT hotspot and T-Mobile on my phones gives me most of the connectivity I need. That is the only reason I’m renewing.

Wow how time flies. Time to renew the annual plan. I'll do it but I honestly don't know if its worth it.

Seems worth it for the Hotspot alone.

You can use Apple Music without the subscription?
Nope. You can bluetooth Apple Music through your phone but you need the subscription to use Apple Music in the dash application.

I am new to Rivian having come from 3 years in the Mustang Mach E world.

I am on a trial subscription and don’t think I will renew when it is done. If Connect+ could get me the things I miss most about my Mustang - Autopilot (Blue Cruise) and Apple CarPlay) I would sign up in a heartbeat. I never had to pay for those in my Mustang btw.

But as ChatGPT helped confirm for me, the only thing I may miss is the native Spotify app:

I take a middle path. Most of my driving is just around town with maybe 1-2 long distance trips a year. Also, I’m not wedded to any particular music source, plus I don’t find the Rivian radio to be that great listening environment. I also have a legacy T-Mobile plan with hotspot at 3G (yes 3G). Around town I do not think C+ is worth it but on the road the hotspot features are useful. So when I go on a trip I only subscribe for that one month instead of paying the yearly cost. Then I pay for it only when I think it has value.

I don’t have C+, although my current loaner R1T does have it. The only advantage I see is that it keeps my phone cooler than tethering does. I use Apple Music all the time, and it works fine without C+. Don’t see any reason to pay for bandwidth when my cell plan already has plenty.

This is not 100% accurate. I tether to my cell, and I get the Spotify native app. Google Maps also works, but I don't get some of the premium features that I don't care about. I have Google Fi for my cell provider, so I pay for each GB of data, which is nowhere near enough to justify the cost of connect+.

Where Rivian screws me, is they'll download updates over my wifi tether and costs me 3GB+ in data. I ended up having to connect to the Rivian API, monitor the OTA downloading percent, and text me to disconnect the tether when downloading begins. I'll then use BT audio until the truck downloads the update from the house wifi. I really wish I could confirm an OTA download vs. Rivian doing it over my wifi tether

Ummm.... If you think you didn't have to pay for BlueCruise, it's because you were paying for it in whatever package you bought or leased. BlueCruise is an expensive option.
"The Ford BlueCruise subscription costs $49.99 per month or $495 per year, effective from October 1, 2024. There is also a one-time purchase option available for $2,495."
