I have a video to edit and post about this, when I saw the half-treated windshield on his R1S, the treated side looked worse. This is one sample and one point in time, but I felt that it was far dirtier on the ceramic side. Unfortunately the 3K video from my glasses doesn't show it, but I could see a clear line. OTOH the anti-scratch sounds like it could be good. The Rivian unfortunately doesn't do a spray-first/delay wipers like some cars do. On my first road trip with the film, however, I feel like I had fewer bugs sticking and didn't use the washer.

Wait?
Yours doesn't?
This is exactly how mine works.
Assuming you're holding the button until the spray starts--keep holding it and it won't start wiping until you let up.

If yours works differently, I'd be curious to hear.

Ok, I need to do a test today. There’s a delay on both. Now I wonder if the fluid is losing prime? Maybe because it’s a billion degrees here, the tube contents evaporate? But mine definitely wipe dry. I rarely need them because I have a car wash subscription so it’s maybe once a month.

Hey @twraps ! For some reason, I wasn't notified by the forums of your R1T addition, though I specifically made sure I was getting notifications. I only noticed because I got the wishlist email from your site. Maybe find another way to notify other R1T owners? I know there were plenty of us! Thanks for launching this!
Ordered and installed the R1T sunroof film (UV + IR) great fit and easy install. Highly recommend. Noticeable difference in temperature while maintaining great visibility through the glass

Just tested mine - it sprays first, then wipes when I release the button and it stops spraying.

So probably another "living in the AZ desert" thing that only applies here.

Edit: I should do testing, maybe my truck has a check valve issue or something that lets it drain out? If I wash now, then try again tomorrow, it should spray first, right? According to what you guys are seeing?

Would be tough to match curvature of windshield (and tough to package/ship), but I wish there was a product that is as tough and scratch resistant as phone/tablet screen protectors. After what I've gone through with ExoShield and XPEL, I really dislike how perishable protection films are. What I've spent on both in just 2 years is just $400 shy of a new windshield. And what both brands don't tell you is that they are really meant for garage queens.

Yeah, this is pretty much the same material and is tough. But we are tough on windshields. Also I hate phone screen protectors and have found them NOT to be tough. In fact, far less tough than the screen itself.

I think if you read the entirety of the thread, you'd see some of us have very different experiences with this.

The film I just swapped out lasted me about 2.5 years before I couldn't stand it anymore. And to be clear, the state in which I live and the state that I commute into at least 2x/weekly are both known for having some of the worst maintained roads in the US. I'm pelted with rocks daily. And don't get me started on winter treated roads.

YMMV, but I think the extremism to suggest this is 'only for garage queens' is both unmerited and sensationalist. While I'm sure there are films out there that don't pass muster, it's just like anything. There are good products, and there are products that like to take your money and leave you wanting.

So far, what TWraps has provided seems to be a really darn good product, but as anyone expects, and no one here's been shy about: time will tell. After having some very personable conversations with Iliya, I have every confidence that if this product doesn't hold up, he'll either find something better or discontinue it. He's not out there to take your money. And I'm not out here to add fluff to products that aren't what I consider to be verily worthwhile.

"YMMV". Exactly that. And to be clear, I am not calling or implying TWARPS' product anything. It's too new to know what it's going to do overtime in various climates. All I've got is seller's word on what it's done on his wife's car. I'm calling ExoShield and XPEL misleading, based on my own experience. Even my installer said, "we've not seen this before, but the other cars we've done are also Porsches that are garaged and aren't driven often".

What I was saying with previous post was that it would be nice to have a durable product that is low maintenance and do not require monthly application of anything—just like phone/tablet protectors. But that would require a rigid material, which would be difficult to make and ship.

I installed it too! Apart from one small hair I didn't see sneak under the wrap until the day after, I'm happy with it! Although it could stand to be a little darker (30-50% vlt imo), it came out darker than I expected. It's darker than my 45% driver and passenger window tints. I didn't know what the default vlt is of the sunroof glass but it must be on the lower side.

So for those curious: I have 70% VLT tint on windshield, 45% on front windows, and 30% rear windows. This 70% spf came out darker than my windshield and front windows.

Heat wise, it's night and day. My head no longer feels like it's in an oven.

If this only lasts 2.5 years, I'll buy another. But it's on sunroof so probably won't bother me as much as a windshield film that fades.

A discussion on the other Rivian forum reminded me that I should do a six month review on this WPF.

tl;dr: Just buy it.

My @twraps film was installed in early September of 2025. I've done a few thousand miles of road trips where I used the windshield washers, and four off road trips where I did the same. It still looks great. It has taken a few rock chips--one what I think was very capable of causing real glass damage. That chip is visible, but there are no noticeable scratches. The film was never fully invisible, but it has always been MUCH better than a previous film I had done at a local shop. That one was always awful, and in less than six months, had become absolutely terrible and I removed it. With this film you can barely perceive that it exists, but not easily.
