Washed R1T and found a plastic part on driveway!

I washed my 2022 R1T yesterday and once finished I found a plastic part (some sort of clip or cover I think) shown in the photos below laying on my driveway. I cannot find where this would fit. Just wondering if anyone knows where this part goes? Thanks!

Definite broken end of a clip of come kind... but it looks really worn out / scratched up. I wonder if that may not have been something stuck in the tire tread until the washing?

It's from the rear tailgate trim cap.

Thanks! Just went out to look and see if I could decide where it goes and I cannot. I raised the front sliding portion of the tailgate cover up, and there was actually another clip identical to this underneath it. My vehicle was in an accident, and I wonder if these were parts that were broken off when they disassembled, and by washing the vehicle I have now found these two. The top cap to the tailgate is very secure and I’m sure it was replaced after the accident. Thank you very much for your help!

They definitely break off and end up stuck in the tailgate.
