Unfortunately Rivian is not listed as an exhibitor in the Silicon Valley auto show in early January. The interim CMO needs to make R2 more known in the key market of Northern California!
Maybe Jeep will finally show and provide details on the Recon if the R2 isn't going to be onsite.

I get the hesitation to release a configurator too early, but that would be a nice to keep building hype and get more reservations. As someone on the fence about the R2, a configurator will certainly help me lean one or the other.

Could be a validated build! Spoke with a Rivian employee on Saturday and they said they should be getting them (the employees) across the country over the next few months to continue the process.

Best way to see LAAS is during industry days, ahead of general public. You just need to register and show proof (business card) that you are involved with auto industry or media. And the cars are generally full access. Not roped off.

Configurator isn’t the only way to generate hype. It’s only one of many and will happen in due time. Too early now as some specs are still being considered/evaluated. Plus, unstable trade policy can and will affect supply chains. It would be a mistake to set customer expectations prematurely—as we have already seen more than a few times with R1 and accusations of “bait and switch”. Better for Rivian to have greater certainty that they are truly locked and loaded. They don’t need to settle another $250M law suit.
