Thank you for this, gives me hope too! I've just been through the SC scheduling, then told it's not compatible, then escalating and getting the door slammed shut on it being an option for me (19K VIN) in the future. So, my interaction with the service center today was that yes it can be done, they also had a pile of V2 tonneau's in boxes on a pallet ready to go, but....
The tonneau's are sent to the service center by Rivian service (corporate) so the only way they can get them, is if a customer has been able to obtain one via the gear shop, unless it's a warranty swap ex V1-V2 or it was part of your configuration to be installed later. It's the only way them in, and what they get in, is already spoken for.
The other issue is the harness, as mine doesn't have the right one, I asked if they could just charge me for the harness and the install, but just remove the overlapping work to remove panels etc, as that would be part of the tonneau install. They said, the harness is the other part of the problem with the tonneau retrofit. Because corporate hasn't given them a path to that install, they can't just order the upgrade. It's also seemingly a shortage on the harness itself.
So just like before, the retrofit is coming to the rest of us, at least we're at the point where it's available, they just need to get the harness as part of the package to get it out to everyone. They did touch on it being more demand than they expected from non PTC owners, so hopefully by years end we see something.
From the tech I spoke with today, he was curious why it wasn't possible as he's done both harness swaps and V2 retrofits, so wasn't sure himself the reason and wanted to get to the bottom of it on his end as well, so I asked if he could follow up with me after.Thank you for this, gives me hope too! You say the retrofit is coming - what specifically did you hear which leads you to believe that is the case? They are going to get a path from corporate as to how to install, soon?
As an overall comment, I'm just unbelievably sad and frustrated that things with Rivian continue to be such an uphill battle (service, parts, PTC)...

"Hey Adam,
Quick updates regarding power tonneau cover retrofit.
I double checked, it is not doable yet for your vehicle, however we are currently working on to re-design the harness for those vehicles.
We will update you as soon as new harness coming out"
I don't really like posting a conversation without asking permission prior, but this is quite in line with what I've heard thus far, just reaffirms that they are indeed working to make them available to us as well.
At this point, I'm going to let it sit until the New Year and if I haven't heard anything, follow up. As much as I want to keep digging into this, I think I've received as much information as they'll allow me to have.

Sweet!FYI, my R1T was able to get the retrofit powered tonneau. Build date 1/23, Vin 18***
A pleasant surprise.
Can you share the entire work order by chance?FYI, my R1T was able to get the retrofit powered tonneau. Build date 1/23, Vin 18***

@Riv it up any luck sharing the work order? We just want to see the parts they used for those of us told it's not yet compatible. Can you share the entire work order by chance?
whats your last 5 digits on your VIN? 189XX?I am (theoretically) going on the 12th. Pushed back once for parts. If no luck by then, I’d be happy to share.
Some ‘23 were built with wiring. Even if it was never built with PTC.I have a 23 with a 20XXX VIN and the SC used "retrofit" when confirming an install in 2 weeks. But, my 23 never had a cover installed. So does "retrofit" apply even if you don't have an existing cover?
