Hey all, I got my R1T serviced a few weeks ago for recalls and a couple minor issues (driver side mirror and proximity locking issues). No one had ridden in the front passenger seat since I got it back, but yesterday my wife got in and noticed the seat was super wobbly. I took a look and saw the bolts in the front of the seat were not tightened. I'm assuming that they needed to remove the seat for some reason and just didn't finish the job. It looks like I can just tighten the bolts down and not deal with a whole service request, but I also want to be sure I'm not overlooking anything. Is this a bad idea, especially from a safety standpoint?

If your work order shows they replaced the bolts, make Rivian fix it. IIRC the seat bolts are ones they replace after service, which makes the torque requirements on them somewhat important. Otherwise I'd just torque them down myself.

I would just tighten them if it were me. The torque spec is 69 ft-lbs for these.

You could also notify the SC if you wanted, they would probably do it quick or send mobile out if you don't have a torque wrench.

I would tighten them myself, but also call the Service Manger and give him/her some attitude. That's a safety hazard and inexcusable.

I agree with others. I would call to see if they can have a mobile person come out in the next day or two since this is a safety issue that they created (assuming they took the seat out).

If you're not the confrontation type, get out the torque wrench and tighten them to 69 ft lbs.

After the El Segundo SC trapped the center rear seatbelt BEHIND THE BENCH SEAT BACK, (when replacing the shark fin) they sent mobile techs out to fix it.

I’d toque as best as you can and have them come out and do it to spec.

Did they replace the 12V battery under the seat? That is the location on gen 2 Rivians
Yes that was one of the repairs they did. They told me it was not a recall but a campaign they were doing to replace the 12V.

It's hard to tell, but they may have replaced the bolts. I see 4 bolts replaced as part of the 12V battery replacement.

Yeah this is the route I'm taking. Unfortunately I can't find a number for the Hayward SC, so I'm stuck on hold in the general support line.

You might try using the chat in the app, I know if the ticket is open it goes to the applicable SC. Don't know about when the ticket is closed though.

If your SC isn’t far, leave it as is and show them in person their negligence. Service is by appointment. But there are no rules barring customers from entering. The doors are open during business hours.

In Portland, I'd probably make a drop-in visit, as @UnsungZero_OldTimeAdMan suggests -- but I'd appeal to the shared "Rivian pride" of all the Service Center staff. (In Portland, that's a real thing -- the staff all have great attitudes.)

I wouldn't use shaming words like "negligence" -- but I would say, "Gee, this happened. Could that have caused other problems if I hadn't found it?"

I hope this helps!
