When the Gen2 came out and they made a big deal about the segmented light bar, I kept thinking "Doesn't the Gen1 have segmented light bars as well since when I plug it in the light goes from one side to another?"

Then last night, when I was messing around with the latest Halloween mode, I could see that the light bar on my Gen1 is segmented! It might not be as sophisticated as a Gen 2, but it can definitely turn on different lights in a sequence. I wonder if that's a hardware limitation or a software limitation.

It reminded me of when Gen2 had color changing interior accent lights, they first said that it was exclusive to Gen2, but Wassym eventually gave in and had them write code for Gen1 interior accent lighting color change. Again, it's not as sophisticated as the Gen2 accent lights, but it's something. Maybe some of the Gen2 segmented light bar features could be activated on Gen1 with software update?

It's not RGB like Gen2.

It doesn't have all the colors but there is more they can do like using it as a charge level light when charging or briefly show charge level when walking to it or away.

I just want a right to left sweep for front and rear for hazards like gen 2 (include center out and left to right too)

Exactly. First thing I thought when I saw that was: “huh…so why can’t Gen 1 have a soc indicator in the light bar???

They can. That was part of the original design. For some reason, they opted not to ship it.

I wonder how much energy it uses, must not be much. But the system perhaps Is not optimized to display these green messages. They have warned that Halloween mode uses more energy than standby. I had no time to fool around it too much this year… anyone know?

I had halloween mode on (motion activated) yesterday while I was at work. In 8 1/2 hours it drained 8% of my battery. On a typical day my truck will lose 1% in that same time period (with gg always on). So a significant increase in energy usage. Gen 1 2022 r1t.

Halloween mode absolutely uses more energy, but this isn't because of the light bar. It's because the entire vehicle is on.

It was even worse for me, for some reason climate stayed active even though it did not show that it was on in the app. I lost 20% ish during 8+ hours at work. I completely disabled spooky mode when I got home and turned off motion cam at home. Didn’t help. It was still active and turned its self on again. Had to do a full reset to get the ghost out it the machine.

It seems that this year's Halloween mode was not adequately regression tested - if at all. Lots of weird issues, all hovering like a witch on a broom around the use of Halloween mode.

Weird. My gen 1 was on all night in Halloween mode and used 2%. Interesting how they are all so different
