New member here and REALLY been wanting to get a R1S for a while now. Now getting serious to pulling the trigger on a 2025 LA silver, black interior, black ash, range wheels, and the performance upgrade with like 6000 miles. No damage or any other issues (reportedly) priced at $82,400. Out the door with TTL for my state (TX), it comes to just under 90k. This is still a lot of money and i know the upgrades and such can add up as well. But my question is… is this overall a good deal or do i hang around and keep shopping? Thanks in advanced.

Why not just order a new one? Honestly, with the interest rates for used cars and the deals they have on new ones, you might end up paying more for a used than new. And you'd be able to get exactly the car you want if new. Just my two cents.

I disagree - go with the used rig (make sure you or someone you trust can inspect it of course).

I spec'd the exact vehicle as a new build, and it starts at $96k. If he can get that 2025 out the door at under $90k, that's a decent savings, especially after taxes (I would guess at least $10k savings, but I'm not an expert on Texas auto sales and related taxes).

It'd be technically more, sure, but my argument is based on current Rivian incentives and APR for used vs new. Rivian is doing a 1.99% APR for 60 months, used cars interest rates are around 7-8%. This means for a $85k car in 60 months, you are looking at a payment of $1730-ish dollars vs $1680 new for $96k with $10k down in both situations. This is all assuming financing. If buying cash, then sure, a decent saving for sure.

If OP has been searching… Surely there are other similar examples out there to compare and get a quick pulse on whether it’s a good deal? The other thing to compare is the longer term costs: insurance and registration renewals. Often folks come in here asking similar questions, but haven’t thought beyond purchasing cost. Also who is the seller? Rivian doesn’t negotiate. Other sellers might. LA Silver is an under appreciated color. It’s a metallic paint with dynamic properties. Not a plain silver that’s been overused by other makes.

I am in the same boat as the OP. Looking for a used 2025 RS1.

That being said the price quoted seems a touch high. I think you might be able to shave about 5K off that.

If you are not in a rush, time is on your side, as more and more 2025 become available. Also it is very close to year end and folks are going to want to move these off the lot.

The other thing that I am looking for is the upgraded sound package. It seems like its hard to tell if they have it or not.

Can or will the seller offer a full report of the vehicles service records? Does it come with the charger or charger cord, how are the tires wearing? What size are they. Look very close for rock pits in the glass. Does it come with Fobs? What size

That's way to much money especially for a used dual motor, a quick search of Autotrader in shows several for 65k to 75k, although nothing in TX for R1S' there are several 2025 RIT's all in the 60s. 2025 LA Silver

FYI, I just leased a max pack R1S performance with upgraded sound in September. After incentives, it was in the low $80s.

OP here… Update… found a green and black with performance for 79 and some change (out the door)… there was another green/white non performance in the same state and they had it priced 500$ less than the performance. So they wanted some business and dropped it 4k (out the door) than the other one. Performance wasn’t a must for me so it’s working out… sorta. That max pack up in Minnesota being 90k out the door was just too much for me. I wanted max but just not many choices available. Side note.. there was a max in Utah for 60k but it had some front end damage and a rebuilt title… didn’t wanna mess with that.

Thats a crazy good price. I would take that in a second. But I guess that also included the old $7500 that is no longer available.

Correct, which is why I leased it. I figure that my residual would roughly follow the depreciation curve.
